Bent Anchor Bolts (L- & J-Hooks)
Cast-in bent anchor bolts to ASTM F1554 — L- and J-hook forms from 3/8″ to 1 1/4″ diameter, lengths to 36″, with the hook embedded to resist pull-out. The standard foundation bolt for columns, light poles, highway signs and heavy equipment bases.

Specifications
A bent anchor bolt is a cast-in F1554 rod with the embedded end formed into an L or a J. The hook is the working part: embedded in the foundation before the concrete is poured, it creates mechanical resistance so the bolt does not pull out when force is applied — no expansion mechanism, no adhesive, just the concrete cast around the bend. That is why bent anchor bolts are the default on poured foundations: structural steel column bases, light poles, highway sign structures and heavy equipment. The basic specification is ASTM F1554, in grades 36, 55 and 105 by minimum yield (each already detailed on its own grade page); the bent geometry follows the foundation drawing. Sizing runs on the collected bent-anchor length chart — diameter, overall length, hook dimension and threaded length per size, in inches — and because thread and hook lengths differ by supplier and diameter, the drawing, not a generic chart, is the ordering document for anything beyond the stock ladder.
| Standard designation | ASTM F1554 anchor bolts, bent form (L-hook or J-hook); grades 36 / 55 / 105 by minimum yield |
|---|---|
| Function of the hook | The embedded hook creates mechanical resistance to pull-out — resistance comes from the concrete cast around the bend, not from expansion or adhesive |
| Applications | Structural steel column bases, light poles, highway signs, heavy equipment — cast into the foundation before the pour |
| Size series (collected chart) | 3/8″ through 1 1/4″ diameter; overall lengths 4″–46″ across the ladder, hook 1″–4″, threaded length 1/2″–6″ (all inches) |
| Chart sample — 3/8″ | Lengths 6, 8, 10, 12; hook 1; thread length 1/2 |
| Chart sample — 1/2″ | Lengths 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 24; hook 1; thread length 2 |
| Chart sample — 5/8″ | Lengths 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 18, 20, 24; hook 2; thread length 4 |
| Chart sample — 3/4″ | Lengths 6, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 24, 30, 36; hook 3; thread length 4 |
| Chart sample — 7/8″ | Lengths 12, 14, 18, 24; hook 3; thread length 5 |
| Chart sample — 1″ | Lengths 14, 15, 16, 18, 20, 24, 30, 36; hook 3 (hook 4 at 36″ in one chart row); thread length 6 |
| Chart sample — 1 1/4″ | Lengths 18, 24; hook 3; thread length 6 |
| Material grades | F1554 Gr.36 low-carbon steel; Gr.55 modified mild steel (high-strength low-alloy); Gr.105 medium-carbon alloy, quenched and tempered — see the F1554 grade pages for mechanicals |
| Material options | Low-carbon steel, stainless steel and alloy steel available by application |
| Coating | Hot-dip galvanizing available for exposed work |
| Ordering note | Thread and hook lengths differ by supplier and diameter — read them from the foundation drawing, not from a generic chart |
| MOQ / lead time | 500–1,000 pieces; standard production 15–30 days (bent or custom geometries quoted against the drawing) |

Ordering & documentation
Documents
Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.
Quotation
- The fastener family (Bent Anchor Bolts (L- & J-Hooks)) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
- Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
- Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
- Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.
Sample & supply
Minimum order quantity is 500–1,000 pieces. Standard production run 15–30 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.
Storage & shipping
Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.
Frequently asked questions
L-hook or J-hook — does the choice change the capacity?
Both forms do the same job: the embedded bend gives the bolt mechanical pull-out resistance inside the poured foundation. The choice is set by the foundation drawing and the fabricator's bending practice at the diameter involved — the collected chart governs the working dimensions (diameter, overall length, hook, thread length) that both forms share, and grade-level strength comes from the F1554 designation, not from the hook shape. Order to the drawing's callout; if the drawing names only the grade and diameter, confirm the hook form and dimensions before the pour, because the hook is unreachable afterwards.
Why must the anchor be right before the concrete is poured?
A cast-in bent anchor has no second chance. Unlike post-installed anchors, it cannot be drilled, replaced or repositioned after the concrete cures — the hook is cast in. That is why the ordering inputs (grade, diameter, thread callout, overall length, thread length, hook geometry, coating) should all be read from the foundation drawing, and why the chart values here are a stock-ladder reference, with custom geometries quoted against the drawing before fabrication.
What is the MOQ and lead time for these anchors?
The minimum order quantity is 500–1,000 pieces. Standard production runs 15–30 days. Bent or custom geometries are quoted against the drawing.
What should an RFQ for these anchors state?
State the anchor family and designation, diameter, embedment or length, base-material condition (cracked or uncracked concrete, moisture), coating, and quantity per size — plus destination country and any required documents such as a mill test certificate. If your detail carries an ETA or ICC-ES report number, quote it so the anchor matches the approval.
