Specifications

Series CFE and CFEO are self-clinching nuts: internally threaded inserts that press into a properly sized mounting hole in thin sheet and cold-flow the sheet material into a groove, locking themselves in place to provide strong, reusable threads in a minimum of space. The locking versions carry dry-film lubricant per MIL-46010 Type I over cadmium, and the collected sheet rates their thread-locking performance as equivalent to applicable NASM25027 specifications. Threads are internal 3B per ANSI B1.1 (6H per ANSI/ASME B1.13M for metric). The collected table runs unified #4-40 through 1/4-28 and metric M3 x 0.5 through M6 x 1.0, each with its minimum sheet-thickness column (0.060 in. unified, 1.02/1.53 mm metric) and shank geometry. The non-locking counterparts are Series CFEX & CFEOX; where vibration must not loosen the screw, the locking series is the one to quote.

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

Quotation

  • The fastener family (Series CFE & CFEO Self-Locking Self-Clinching Nuts) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
  • Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
  • Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
  • Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.

Sample & supply

Minimum order quantities and lead times for this family are confirmed at quotation — send your sizes, grades and quantities on the RFQ and the quote will carry a firm schedule. Sample availability is confirmed with the quotation.

Storage & shipping

Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions

What sheet hardness can these clinch nuts be installed into?

The collected specification sheet rates the series for use in materials with Rockwell hardness of B-70 or less. Harder sheets resist the cold-flow that locks the nut in place; if your sheet is harder than HB B-70, state the hardness on the RFQ so the fastener type can be confirmed before ordering.

How strong is the installed thread?

The collected sheet tabulates installation force, pushout and torque-out per thread size and sheet series — sampled at #4-40 on 0.040 in. cold-rolled steel: 1500 lbs installation force, 135 lbs pushout, 10 in.-lbs torque-out; at M6 on 1.5 mm steel: 15.6 kN, 1800 N and 11.3 N·m. Pushout is the axial force that ejects the nut; torque-out is the torsional resistance of the installed thread. Use the table row for your thread size and sheet as the reference figure and confirm the sheet material on the RFQ.

What should an RFQ for these self-clinching nuts state?

State the series (self-locking CFE/CFEO or non-locking CFEX/CFEOX), thread size and pitch (for example #10-32, 1/4-28, M4 x 0.7), sheet material and thickness, and sheet hardness where known (the collected sheet rates use in materials up to Rockwell B-70), plus quantity per size and destination country. Commercial terms are confirmed at quotation.
