Series SH Hard Panel Self-Clinching Nuts

Hardened alloy-steel self-clinching nuts for high-strength steel panels up to 975 MPa tensile strength — a hardened nut body that keeps the installed thread strong where a standard clinch nut would be out-rated by the sheet. 1/4-20 to 3/8-16 unified, M6 to M10 metric.

Specifications

Series SH exists for the panels that defeat ordinary clinch nuts: high-strength steel sheet up to 975 MPa tensile strength. The nut body itself is hardened alloy steel, so the installed thread keeps its strength rating instead of being the soft spot in a hard panel — and the installation practice is unchanged: punch the tabulated hole, press with parallel punch and anvil, and let the sheet cold-flow into the shank groove. The collected catalog tabulates unified 1/4-20, 5/16-18 and 3/8-16 and metric M6 x 1, M8 x 1.25 and M10 x 1.5, each in two shank lengths with the matching minimum sheet thickness, mounting-hole and head dimensions. One catalog note worth knowing before machining: due to the manufacturing procedure, parts may have a counterbore at the shank end. Where the sheet is hardened but smaller than 1/4-20, this series is the starting point rather than the standard S line.

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

Quotation

  • The fastener family (Series SH Hard Panel Self-Clinching Nuts) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
  • Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
  • Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
  • Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.

Sample & supply

Minimum order quantities and lead times for this family are confirmed at quotation — send your sizes, grades and quantities on the RFQ and the quote will carry a firm schedule. Sample availability is confirmed with the quotation.

Storage & shipping

Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions

Why a special series for hard panels — what fails with a standard clinch nut?

Two things. Clinching works by cold-flowing the sheet into the nut's groove; a sheet at the top of the hardness range resists that flow, so retention drops exactly where the joint is most demanding. And a soft nut body in a high-strength assembly makes the installed thread the weakest link. The SH series answers both: a hardened alloy-steel body keeps the thread strong, and the series is rated by the collected catalog for high-strength steel sheets up to 975 MPa tensile strength — far beyond the HRB-80-ish ceiling of the standard S line.

What should an RFQ for these self-clinching nuts state?

State the series (self-locking CFE/CFEO or non-locking CFEX/CFEOX), thread size and pitch (for example #10-32, 1/4-28, M4 x 0.7), sheet material and thickness, and sheet hardness where known (the collected sheet rates use in materials up to Rockwell B-70), plus quantity per size and destination country. Commercial terms are confirmed at quotation.
