Series CFEX & CFEOX Non-Locking Self-Clinching Nuts
Non-locking self-clinching nuts, Series CFEX & CFEOX — 300 series stainless steel clinch nuts with passivated finish per ASTM A380, internal 2B / 6H thread classes, free-running installed threads for screws that are repeatedly removed and reinstalled.
Last updated: 2026-11
Specifications
Series CFEX and CFEOX are the non-locking counterparts of the CFE & CFEO clinch-nut line: the same press-in, cold-flow installation in thin sheet, with a passivated finish per ASTM A380 instead of the locking series' dry-film lubricant over cadmium. Threads are internal 2B per ANSI B1.1 (6H per ANSI/ASME B1.13M for metric) — a free-running class, so a screw threads in and out without bind, at the cost of no positive locking resistance; where vibration would back the screw out, the self-locking CFE & CFEO series is the complementary choice. The collected table runs unified #4-40 through 1/4-28 and metric M3 x 0.5 through M6 x 1.0, with per-size sheet-thickness, hole-diameter and installation/performance data identical in structure to the locking series.

Ordering & documentation
Documents
Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.
Quotation
- The fastener family (Series CFEX & CFEOX Non-Locking Self-Clinching Nuts) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
- Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
- Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
- Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.
Sample & supply
Minimum order quantities and lead times for this family are confirmed at quotation — send your sizes, grades and quantities on the RFQ and the quote will carry a firm schedule. Sample availability is confirmed with the quotation.
Storage & shipping
Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.
Frequently asked questions
Locking or non-locking self-clinching nut — which series?
If the screw is installed once or serviced rarely and must resist vibration, quote the self-locking CFE & CFEO series, whose dry-film-lubricated threads rate locking performance equivalent to NASM25027. If the screw is repeatedly removed and reinstalled and the joint is not vibration-critical, the free-running non-locking CFEX & CFEOX series (passivated per ASTM A380, 2B/6H classes) installs the same way and costs less to service. Both install into the same sheet-hardness envelope (Rockwell B-70 or less per the collected sheet).
What hole do these nuts need in the sheet?
Each thread size has a tabulated mounting-hole column D in the collected sheet — sampled: #4-40 needs 0.172 in. maximum / 0.145 in. minimum; M3 needs 4.39 mm maximum / 3.96 mm minimum. Drill or punch to the table row for your thread size, place the nut over the hole, and press with a squeezing force parallel to the sheet until the nut seats flush; the sheet cold-flows into the nut's holding groove.
What should an RFQ for these self-clinching nuts state?
State the series (self-locking CFE/CFEO or non-locking CFEX/CFEOX), thread size and pitch (for example #10-32, 1/4-28, M4 x 0.7), sheet material and thickness, and sheet hardness where known (the collected sheet rates use in materials up to Rockwell B-70), plus quantity per size and destination country. Commercial terms are confirmed at quotation.
