Specifications

DIN 662 is the small mushroom (round) head solid rivet — the general repair and light-fabrication rivet in the 1.6 to 6 mm range. The collected 03/2011-edition table gives per size: shank d1 min/max (5.85/6.15 at d6), head dk nom (12), head height k ≈ (3), cavity depth w ≈ (2), head edge e max (3), fillet r1 ≈ (10) and the punch-side d min (5.82); the superseded 05/1993 edition is transcribed beside it (its d min prints 5.85 — a real, small edition difference the page keeps visible). The mass ladder runs lengths 3 to 20 mm per diameter (0.35 kg per 1000 at 1.6 × 3 up to 5.9 at 6 × 20). This is the rivet of tool boxes, hinges, knife scales, brake and clutch linings and general thin-plate repair: set cold with a simple dolly, no countersink, no specialized dies.

Standard / scope DIN 662 mushroom head rivets — d1 1.6 to 6, edition 03/2011 (supersedes 05/1993; the 1993 edition transcribed as separate tables)
Shank tolerances d1 min/max per size: 5.85/6.15 at d1 6 (1993 edition prints d min 5.85 — edition difference carried verbatim)
Head geometry dk nom to 12, k ≈ 3, cavity w ≈ 2, e max 3, fillet r1 ≈ 10, d min 5.82 at d1 6
Commercial lengths Mass ladder (kg per 1000 pcs, ρ=7,85 kg/dm³) l 3 to 20 across d1 1.6–6

Materials

  • Order by material family: mild steel (general), copper (electrical, ductile set, corrosion pairing with Cu alloys), aluminium alloys (light work — softer set, lower strength). The mushroom head needs no countersink but does want a flat bearing face; for linings and friction-facing work state the lining material, since cavity depth w and set behaviour matter to the facing

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

Quotation

  • The fastener family (DIN 662 Mushroom Head Rivets) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
  • Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
  • Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
  • Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.

Sample & supply

Minimum order quantity is 10,000–50,000 pieces depending on size. Standard production run 10–20 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.

Storage & shipping

Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions

What length do I order for a given joint?

Grip plus the closing allowance: measure the total clamp thickness, add the allowance for the closing head the setting operation forms (roughly half to two-thirds of the shank diameter in cold setting, per practice), and take the nearest printed length step from the ladder (3 to 20 mm in the table). A too-short rivet cannot form a full closing head — the classic loose-rivet failure — and a too-long one folds instead of upsetting cleanly. Because DIN 662 serves so much repair work, we routinely quote two adjacent lengths for trial on new joints; the mass table prices both exactly per 1000 pcs so the trial costs nothing to evaluate.

Does the small d min difference between the 2011 and 1993 tables matter?

Not to the joint — the difference is a few hundredths on the shank minimum (5.82 vs 5.85 at d1 6 as the two tables print) — but it matters to identification: the two tables are carried verbatim precisely so a measurement audit can tell which edition a loose rivet was made to. For ordering, quote DIN 662 plus size and length as your drawing prints and name the edition if the drawing carries one; supply conforms to the current edition unless the order says otherwise, and both editions' head and length geometry agree, so stocks mix freely in service.
