Coiled Spring Pins (Inch Series)
Inch-series coiled spring pins by nominal size 1/32 to beyond 1/2 in: pin diameter max/min for standard, heavy and light duty, chamfer diameter and length, and recommended hole size — one grid covering all three duty variants.
Specifications
A coiled spring pin works by spring-back: the coiled strip compresses into the hole and pushes out against it, so the hole size is a working part of the joint, not a convenience. The collected inch-series grid runs from 1/32 (0.031) upward and splits each nominal size into standard, heavy and light duty pin-diameter bands — at 1/8, standard duty runs 0.131-0.138 in, heavy duty 0.130-0.136, light duty 0.131-0.139 — with the sizes below 1/16 offered in standard duty only, printed as "…" in the duty columns and carried verbatim. Chamfer length C grows stepwise with size (0.024 at the small end to 0.065+ by 7/32), and the recommended hole size tracks the pin max-minus-a-few-thousandths (0.124/0.129 in max/min at 1/8) — drill the hole at the top of the band and the pin loses radial spring; below the band and insertion load and hoop stress climb. Duty selection is a shock question: heavy duty for high shock loads, light duty where the housing is thin or brittle. Material, length ladders and metric sizes (ISO 8750 / DIN 7343) are separate identities — not tabulated on the collected page.

Materials
- Coiled spring pins ship in spring-temper carbon and alloy steels and stainless, often with the duty band (standard/heavy/light) chosen by the shock rating rather than the strength. State pin material, hole material (the recommended hole sizes assume steel-type housings; soft housings may need the hole at the bottom of the band) and lengths on the RFQ — the collected page carries diameters and hole sizes only
Ordering & documentation
Documents
Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.
Quotation
- The fastener family (Coiled Spring Pins (Inch Series)) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
- Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
- Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
- Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.
Sample & supply
Minimum order quantities and lead times for this family are confirmed at quotation — send your sizes, grades and quantities on the RFQ and the quote will carry a firm schedule. Sample availability is confirmed with the quotation.
Storage & shipping
Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.
Frequently asked questions
How do I choose between standard, heavy and light duty in the inch series?
By shock severity and housing stiffness, not by strength. All three duties share the nominal size — the pin diameters differ by only a few thousandths (at 1/8: 0.136 vs 0.133 vs 0.135 typical mid-band) — because the duty is set by the strip thickness and yield of the coil, which the diameter table hints at but does not state. Heavy duty absorbs the highest shock loads (repeated impact, pivot joints in moving equipment); standard duty covers most screening and location joints; light duty suits brittle or thin-walled housings where the outward spring force of a heavier pin would stress the bore. The table's practical rule: pick the duty from the application, then drill the hole to the recommended band for that size — the band is common across the duties at a given nominal size.
Why does the table print "…" for heavy and light duty at the small sizes?
Because those variants are not offered there: below 1/16 in the coiled geometry does not give the heavier or lighter strip variants a useful band, so the collected table leaves the cells as "…" rather than zero or a dash — carried verbatim here as a no-value marker, not reconstructed. Practically it means small-pin selection is not a duty decision at all: order the standard-duty pin, put your effort into the hole size and the engagement length, and if the joint's shock load genuinely exceeds what a 3/32 standard-duty pin carries, the answer is a larger pin, not a heavier variant that does not exist. Anything outside the printed grid is per RFQ.
