ISO 8734 Parallel Dowel Pins (m6, Through Hardened)
Through-hardened dowel pins per ISO 8734, type A — nominal diameters 1 to 20 mm at m6 tolerance in the collected table (max +0.008 to +0.021 over nominal) with the c chamfer dimension per size; the collected source labels ISO 8734 as replacing DIN 6325.

Specifications
ISO 8734 is the current international designation for the hardened cylindrical dowel pin: a precision-ground, through-hardened pin pressed into a reamed hole to locate parts repeatably and carry shear. The collected table declares the tolerance by name — m6, the standardized dowel class — and prints the resulting max/min band per size (5.012/5.004 mm at nominal 5, for example, so a nominal-5 pin measures a few microns over and presses into an h7-class hole). The series runs Φ1 to Φ20 with the c chamfer printed per size. Compared with the unhardened parallel pin DIN 7 / ISO 2338, the through-hardened ISO 8734 pin is the choice where the joint is repeatedly disassembled or where the pin must keep its end geometry under driving loads; compared with a taper pin (ISO 2339), it gives positionally repeatable location because the fit is a defined cylinder, not a cone. The source labels ISO 8734 as replacing DIN 6325 — the two collected tables match size for size.

|---|---|
| Size range | Nominal diameters Φ1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, 20 mm |
| Tolerance class | m6, declared in the collected table — max = nominal +0.008 to +0.021 mm, min = nominal +0.002 to +0.008 mm across the series; see per-size table |
| Chamfer c (≈ by size) | 0.2 mm at Φ1 to 3.5 mm at Φ20 — see per-size table |
| Installation | Pressed into a reamed hole; the m6 oversize band creates the interference fit — hole class and reamer size are part of the joint design |
| Compared with DIN 7 / ISO 2338 | Same cylindrical dowel principle; ISO 8734 is through hardened — pick it for repeated assembly or driven installation |

Ordering & documentation
Documents
Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.
Quotation
- The fastener family (ISO 8734 Parallel Dowel Pins (m6, Through Hardened)) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
- Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
- Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
- Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.
Sample & supply
Minimum order quantities and lead times for this family are confirmed at quotation — send your sizes, grades and quantities on the RFQ and the quote will carry a firm schedule. Sample availability is confirmed with the quotation.
Storage & shipping
Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.
Frequently asked questions
What does m6 mean on a dowel pin, and what hole does it need?
m6 is the pin's tolerance band: for a nominal 6 mm pin, the collected table prints 6.012/6.004 mm — the pin is guaranteed to arrive between 4 and 12 microns over nominal. The joint works because the reamed hole is made slightly smaller than nominal (an h7-class hole at 6 mm runs just under 6.000), so pin minus hole is a few microns of interference: enough to lock the joint by press fit, small enough to press assemble without scoring. The numbers that matter for your shop are the pair, pin class and hole class together — specifying "6 m6 dowel, h7 reamed hole" fully defines the fit. A worn or hand-reamed hole breaks the interference budget even though both parts are "in tolerance", which is why doweled joints that have been disassembled many times are better re-reamed and upsized than re-pinned as-is.
What should an RFQ for this pin type state?
State the pin type, the standard designation, the nominal size and length, material if the drawing names one, and quantity per size — plus destination country. Commercial terms are confirmed at quotation.
