Specifications

A grooved pin normally sits flush; the round-head variant gives it a bearing surface. ISO 8746 adds a button head over the grooved shank, so the pin can retain a part directly — the head clamps against the workpiece face while the grooves lock the shank in the bore, no separate washer or collar needed. The collected table covers d1 1,4 → 20 with full head geometry: head diameter dk (2,6 → 32), head height k (0,9 → 13,9), the r row (1,4 → 16,5) and the c row (0,42 → 6), plus d1 max/min per column (min. printing 1,35 → 19,8). The groove-diameter ladder runs 13 lengths from l 3 → 40 at the usual tolerance bands — a short length envelope, as befits a head-retained pin that rarely spans deep stacks. The countersunk-head counterpart (flush-mounted) is ISO 8747, also in this catalog. Material, hardness and finish are not tabulated — per RFQ.

Standard ISO 8746 — round head grooved pins
Size range d1 1,4 – 20 in the collected rows (d1 max/min per column; min. 1,35 → 19,8)
Head geometry dk 2,6 → 32; k 0,9 → 13,9; r 1,4 → 16,5; c 0,42 → 6
Length ladder l 3 – 40 (13 lengths) with groove diameter per length
Not tabulated Double-shear values, material, hardness, finish — per RFQ
Designation note ISO 8747 is the countersunk-head counterpart in this catalog — round head for retention, countersunk for flush
ISO 8746 round head - attribute rowsAll dimensions in millimetres. Column header is the source's d1 nominal series; head/shank attributes carried verbatim: dk = head diameter (max./min.), k = head height (max./min.), r = a fillet/radius row as labelled, c = a chamfer/edge row as labelled. The source prints d1 max. equal to nominal with min. offsets per column.

Materials

  • Material and finish specified per RFQ — headed grooved pins commonly run spring or hardened steel with the head formed after groove rolling; state whether the head must seat against a finished face at quotation, since dk/k geometry fixes the bearing area

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

Quotation

  • The fastener family (ISO 8746 Round Head Grooved Pins) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
  • Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
  • Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
  • Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.

Sample & supply

Minimum order quantities and lead times for this family are confirmed at quotation — send your sizes, grades and quantities on the RFQ and the quote will carry a firm schedule. Sample availability is confirmed with the quotation.

Storage & shipping

Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions

Round head (ISO 8746) or countersunk head (ISO 8747) — how do I choose the head style?

By what the pin head has to do to the surface it meets. The round head stands proud: it bears on the workpiece face and can retain an attached part directly, which makes it the pick when the head is doing clamping work — but it protrudes, so it needs housing clearance and it adds the head height k to any stack. The countersunk head (ISO 8747 in this catalog) sits flush in a countersunk bore: no protrusion, no snagging, but no bearing function either — the countersink must be machined, and the flush seat gives up the retention clamp. The collected tables differ accordingly: ISO 8746 tabulates head diameter dk (2,6 → 32), head height k (0,9 → 13,9), r and c rows; ISO 8747 carries dk and c but no k/r rows, since a flush countersunk head has no measurable standing height. Size ranges are close (d1 1,4 – 20 both), with short length ladders (l 3 – 40). Material, hardness and finish are not tabulated on either page and are quoted per RFQ.
