DIN 1473 Grooved Pins, Full Length Parallel Grooved with Chamfer
DIN 1473 grooved pins, full length parallel grooved with chamfer, Φ0.8 to Φ25 — the shear-oriented three-groove pin that runs the pressed grooves over the whole shank — with the full collected 14-size table: diameter limits, chamfer, groove diameter d 2 limits and the source's minimum double-shear row.

Specifications
DIN 1473 is the parallel-grooved press-fit pin with a full-length groove pattern and a chamfered entry: the three grooves are pressed with parallel (not tapered) flanks over the entire shank, so the interference and the shear area stay uniform from end to end. That uniformity is what it is chosen for — the pin shears consistently across the joint, holds lateral position well, and carries the highest tabulated shear of the groove forms at a given diameter. The small end of the range matters too: the collected table starts at Φ0.8, below where DIN 1470's published table on this site begins, for instrument and small-mechanism work. The table covers Φ0.8 to Φ25 — 14 sizes — with diameter limits (max / min), chamfer c ≈, entry chamfer f ≈, groove diameter d 2 (nominal / max / min), a radius row r ≈ d, and the source's minimum double-shear values in kilonewtons. Lengths, materials and finishes are not printed by the collected specification and stay per RFQ.

|---|---|
| Size range | Nominal diameters Φ0.8 – Φ25 (14 sizes tabulated); length to order |
| Tabulated geometry | Per size: pin diameter d (max / min), chamfer c ≈, entry chamfer f ≈, groove diameter d 2 (nominal / max / min), radius r ≈ d |
| Strength (source rows) | Minimum double shear in kN per size, as printed by the source — 0.45 kN at Φ0.8 rising to 370.1 kN at Φ25 |
| Function | Full-length parallel grooves: uniform shear and positional accuracy across the whole joint, re-drivable in a plain drilled hole |
| Materials / strength | Not tabulated by the collected specification beyond the source shear rows — per RFQ |
| Size | d — max=nominal size | d — min | c — ≈ | f — ≈ | d 2 — Nominal Size | d 2 — max | d 2 — min | r — ≈ d | Minimum double shear (kN, min) |

Ordering & documentation
Documents
Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.
Quotation
- The fastener family (DIN 1473 Grooved Pins, Full Length Parallel Grooved with Chamfer) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
- Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
- Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
- Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.
Sample & supply
Minimum order quantities and lead times for this family are confirmed at quotation — send your sizes, grades and quantities on the RFQ and the quote will carry a firm schedule. Sample availability is confirmed with the quotation.
Storage & shipping
Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.
Frequently asked questions
Parallel grooves (DIN 1473) or taper grooves (DIN 1471/1472) for a locating pin?
Locating wants parallel. A taper groove wedges progressively, so the pin's position in the bore depends on how far it is driven — fine for retention, poor when two parts must stay aligned part-to-part. DIN 1473's parallel grooves let the pin seat to the shoulder or depth stop and stay there, with the groove interference even along the whole length, which is why it is the standard grooved pin for fixtures and nesting gauges. The trade-off is axial retention: a hard pull along the pin axis slides a parallel pin more readily than a taper pin, so if the joint sees axial load pick DIN 1471/1472 and accept the drive-depth variation. Either way the hole is drilled, not reamed — match the tabulated groove diameter d 2 to your drill size and check the source's minimum double-shear row against the joint load.
What is the MOQ and lead time for this pin type?
Commercial terms for this family are confirmed at quotation — state sizes, tolerance class and quantities on the RFQ for a firm schedule. Common diameters in this pin type are widely stocked; confirm the exact schedule against quantity and size mix at quotation.
