Specifications

A taper pin is a precision wedge: a slightly conical pin driven into a reamed tapered hole, where the interference along the whole cone locks two parts positionally. Unlike a parallel dowel (DIN 7 / ISO 2338), the fit does not depend on an exact cylinder-to-bore tolerance — the taper seats progressively, which is why taper pins survive disassembly-and-reassembly cycles in linkages, machine-tool levers and hub-to-shaft joints. The collected tables cover the round-end form: ISO 2339 type B (turned), which the source labels as replacing DIN 1, with nominal diameters Φ0.6 to Φ50 at h10 (max = nominal size, minimum printed per size). ISO 2339 adds the a end dimension per size; the DIN 1 table carries the chamfer c max and the approximate end radius r. What the collected pages do not print is a taper ratio, so none is quoted here — the hole is what defines the taper, and the pin is specified by its nominal end diameter and length.

Standard DIN 1 (taper pins with round end) — ISO 2339 type B (turned), which the collected source labels as replacing DIN 1
Size range Nominal diameters Φ0.6, 0.8, 1, 1.2, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50 mm
Diameter tolerance h10 — max = nominal size; min 0.56 mm at Φ0.6 falling proportionally to 49.9 mm at Φ50 — see per-size table
End dimension a (≈ by size) 0.08 to 6.3 mm rising with diameter (ISO 2339 table) — see per-size table
Chamfer c (max, DIN 1 table) 0.1 mm at Φ0.6 to 7.5 mm at Φ50 — see per-size table; the DIN 1 table has no Φ1.2 row and the ISO table has no Φ14 row (em-dash cells in the table are as-collected)
End radius r (≈, DIN 1 table) 0.6 mm at Φ0.6 to 50 mm at Φ50 — see per-size table
Installation Driven into a reamed tapered hole; retained by continuous cone interference — removal is from the small end
Taper ratio Not printed in the collected pages — hole geometry governs; confirm the mating reamer when specifying

Materials

  • Material and finish specified per RFQ — the collected specification table covers geometry only

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

Quotation

  • The fastener family (DIN 1 / ISO 2339 Taper Pins (Round End)) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
  • Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
  • Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
  • Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.

Sample & supply

Minimum order quantities and lead times for this family are confirmed at quotation — send your sizes, grades and quantities on the RFQ and the quote will carry a firm schedule. Sample availability is confirmed with the quotation.

Storage & shipping

Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions

Taper pin or parallel dowel — how do I choose?

A parallel dowel (DIN 7 / ISO 2338) holds position by cylinder-to-bore precision: it needs an accurately reamed straight hole and resists being pulled along its axis only by that interference. A taper pin holds by wedge action over its whole length: the joint can be knocked apart and re-driven repeatedly, and slight hole wear is taken up by driving the pin deeper. The trade-offs: the tapered joint is not positionally repeatable to dowel precision after re-driving, and lateral loads concentrate differently. The two pin families are also sized differently — a taper pin is specified by its small-end nominal diameter, so a "6 mm" taper pin and a 6 mm dowel are not interchangeable parts. Follow the drawing; if you are designing the joint, pick the dowel where XY precision dominates and the taper where serviceability dominates.

Why does the table have an em-dash at Φ1.2 and Φ14?

The page merges two collected tables: the ISO 2339 series runs Φ0.6 through Φ50 in 20 sizes including Φ1.2 but skips Φ14, while the DIN 1 table includes Φ14 but has no Φ1.2 row. Where a cell has no collected value it is rendered as an em-dash rather than interpolated — no number on this page is invented to fill a gap between the two tables.

What should an RFQ for this pin type state?

State the pin type, the standard designation, the nominal size and length, material if the drawing names one, and quantity per size — plus destination country. Commercial terms are confirmed at quotation.
