Specifications

A parallel dowel pin is a solid cylindrical pin with chamfered ends used to locate and join parts by friction: the pin presses into pre-drilled holes and holds alignment through the frictional fit between pin and material, so the joint stays rigid and the assembled parts stay aligned. DIN 7 is the German standard for these pins and its ISO equivalent is ISO 2338. The collected specification table runs the nominal diameter series d m6 from 1 to 20 mm (1, 1.2, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, 20), each with its matching chamfer values r (1.0–20.0) and c (0.15–3.00). Dowel pins are ordered by tolerance class as well as size — m6 for press fits, h6 for clearance fits — and the collected sheet carries band ladders for both classes across the length ranges. Where the joint must come apart repeatedly or carry shock loads, a slotted spring pin (DIN 1481 / ISO 8752) is the complementary choice; where alignment must never slip, the solid dowel pin is.

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

Quotation

  • The fastener family (DIN 7 / ISO 2338 Parallel Dowel Pins) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
  • Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
  • Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
  • Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.

Sample & supply

Minimum order quantities and lead times for this family are confirmed at quotation — send your sizes, grades and quantities on the RFQ and the quote will carry a firm schedule. Sample availability is confirmed with the quotation.

Storage & shipping

Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions

Dowel pin or slotted spring pin — which do I need?

A parallel dowel pin (DIN 7 / ISO 2338) is a solid pin that locates by friction fit in pre-drilled holes — the rigid choice where parts must stay precisely aligned and the joint is not meant to flex. A slotted spring pin (DIN 1481 / ISO 8752) is hollow and split along its full length: it compresses to enter the hole and springs outward against the hole wall, which holds the joint against shock and vibration. If your drawing names the standard, quote against that; if it names only "pin" and the hole size, say so on the RFQ and confirm the type before ordering.

What is the difference between m6 and h6 tolerance on DIN 7 pins?

Both are diameter tolerance classes for the pin; m6 leaves interference (press fit) with a matched hole, h6 leaves clearance. The collected specification sheet carries band ladders for both classes across the length ranges. Match the class to the drawing; where the drawing is silent, the fit intent (press vs removable) decides — confirm before ordering rather than defaulting.

What should an RFQ for these pins state?

State the pin type (parallel dowel pin or slotted spring pin), the standard designation (DIN 7 / ISO 2338 or DIN 1481 / ISO 8752), nominal diameter and length, tolerance class where the drawing names one (m6 or h6 for dowel pins), material (steel property class or stainless grade), and quantity per size — plus destination country. Commercial terms are confirmed at quotation.
