DIN 7343 Coiled Spring Pins (Light Duty)
DIN 7343 spring-type straight pins, coiled light-duty series, Φ0.8 to Φ16 — the 2¼-turn coiled pin that springs against the hole to take shear in drilled sheet and castings — with the full collected 16-size table: coil section thickness, as-coiled diameter limits, chamfer and the source's single and double shear minimums.

Specifications
A coiled spring pin is a strip of spring steel rolled into roughly 2¼ turns: driven into a drilled hole, it compresses to the bore and pushes outward uniformly, gripping by spring force rather than by hole precision. The light-duty DIN 7343 series uses a thinner strip than the heavy ISO 8752-type slotted pins, so it needs less driving force, stresses thin host material less, and shears predictably as a designed fuse in duty-light joints — hinges, pivots in stamped assemblies, small castings. The collected table covers Φ0.8 to Φ16 — 16 sizes — with the chamfer α ≈, the coil section thickness s, the as-coiled pin diameter d (min = nominal size / max), the source's second diameter column d 2 (max = nominal size / min), and its minimum single and double shear values in kilonewtons. Lengths, materials and finishes are not printed by the collected specification and stay per RFQ. For the heavy slotted counterpart see DIN 1481 / ISO 8752 on this site.
| Standard | DIN 7343 — spring-type straight pins, coiled, light duty (≈2¼-turn rolled spring-steel pin) |
|---|---|
| Size range | Nominal diameters Φ0.8 – Φ16 (16 sizes tabulated); length to order |
| Tabulated geometry | Per size: chamfer α ≈, coil section thickness s, pin diameter d (min=nominal size / max), source diameter column d 2 (max=nominal size / min) |
| Strength (source rows) | Minimum single and double shear in kN per size as printed by the source — e.g. 0.2058 / 0.4116 kN at Φ0.8, 74.529 / 149.058 kN at Φ16 |
| Function | Springs against the drilled bore for uniform radial grip; light-duty shear pin and pivot in thin or brittle hosts |
| Materials / strength | Not tabulated by the collected specification beyond the source shear rows — per RFQ (spring steel grade per duty) |
| Size | α — ≈ | s | d — min=nominal size | d — max | d 2 — max=nominal size | d 2 — min | Minimum shear strength, single (kN) | Minimum double shear (kN) |

Ordering & documentation
Documents
Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.
Quotation
- The fastener family (DIN 7343 Coiled Spring Pins (Light Duty)) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
- Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
- Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
- Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.
Sample & supply
Minimum order quantities and lead times for this family are confirmed at quotation — send your sizes, grades and quantities on the RFQ and the quote will carry a firm schedule. Sample availability is confirmed with the quotation.
Storage & shipping
Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.
Frequently asked questions
When is a light-duty coiled pin the right choice over a slotted pin?
Look at the host, not the pin. The coiled pin's thin, multi-turn wall distributes its outward pressure around the bore, so it is the standard answer in thin sheet, die-castings and other brittle or thin-walled hosts where a stiff slotted pin would distort the hole or need heavy driving force. It also enters holes closer to nominal size. The trade-off is shear capacity: at the same nominal diameter the light-duty series carries materially less shear than the heavy slotted series, so size the joint from the tabulated minimum shear rows against your worst-case load — and treat a deliberate low shear rating as a feature where the pin is meant to be the sacrificial element protecting a mechanism.
What is the MOQ and lead time for this pin type?
Commercial terms for this family are confirmed at quotation — state sizes, tolerance class and quantities on the RFQ for a firm schedule. Common diameters in this pin type are widely stocked; confirm the exact schedule against quantity and size mix at quotation.
