DIN 1052 Washers for Wood Constructions

DIN 1052 load-distribution washers for timber connections — nominal threads M12 to M24, the large-diameter plate washer that spreads a timber connector's clamping load over the wood surface, with the collected hole/outside-diameter/thickness ladder.

Specifications

DIN 1052 washers are the load-spreading plates for heavy timber bolting: under a hex bolt or threaded rod drawing a timber joint tight, the washer's large outside diameter (58 mm at M12 up to 105 mm at M24) keeps the clamping pressure below the wood's perpendicular-to-grain bearing capacity, so the connector does not embed and lose preload as the timber seasons. The collected ladder covers the five sizes the standard tabulates — M12, M16, M20, M22, M24 — each with a single hole-diameter, outside-diameter and thickness value (thickness steps 6 mm at the small end to 8 mm from M20 up). Pair them with the timber connectors your joinery detail calls (threaded rods, hex bolts) and read the ladder straight off the table. Material grade and finish are not tabulated by the collected specification — per RFQ (state the timber treatment environment, since treated timber drives the coating choice).

Size range Nominal thread M12 – M24 (M12 / M16 / M20 / M22 / M24 tabulated)
Hole diameter d1: 14 – 27 mm, single value per size
Outside diameter dc: 58 – 105 mm, single value per size
Thickness h: 6 – 8 mm, single value per size
Material / finish Not tabulated by the collected specification — per RFQ

Materials

  • Material and finish specified per RFQ — plate washers for timber are typically plain or galvanized steel; state the timber treatment and exposure at quotation

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

Quotation

  • The fastener family (DIN 1052 Washers for Wood Constructions) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
  • Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
  • Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
  • Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.

Sample & supply

Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.

Storage & shipping

Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the outside diameter so large on these washers?

Because the washer's job is bearing, not clearance. In a timber connection the bolt tension squeezes the washer into the wood surface, and wood carries roughly a fifth to a tenth of steel's allowable bearing stress perpendicular to the grain — so the load has to be spread. The collected ladder shows the proportion: at M20 the washer is 80 mm across on a 22 mm hole, more than three and a half hole-diameters of bearing face, and thickness grows to 8 mm so the plate itself does not dish under the load. Compare the plain-washer lines in this catalog (ISO 7089 / DIN 125) and their outside diameters are barely twice the hole — sized for steel-to-steel, not for wood. Finish and steel grade go on the RFQ: preservative-treated timber in particular dictates a compatible coating.
