DIN 9021 Fender Washers (Large OD)

Large-series flat washers per DIN 9021 (ISO 7093 counterpart) — the fender washer. A much larger outer diameter than DIN 125 spreads bearing load over slotted or oversized holes, thin sheet and soft substrates.

Specifications

The DIN 9021 fender washer is a DIN 125 washer with a dramatically wider outer diameter for the same bolt size. The extra diameter exists for one job: spreading the clamp load when the joint cannot carry it locally — over a slotted hole, an oversized hole, or a soft, thin substrate that a standard washer would pull through or trench into. Body panels, plastic housings, thin sheet-metal assemblies and repair work over enlarged holes are its natural territory. The pairing rule mirrors the DIN 125 page: a 200 HV large-series washer still serves assemblies up to property class 8.8; higher-strength joints need the hardened structural equivalents.

Standard DIN 9021 — large-series flat washer, "fender" pattern (ISO 7093 counterpart)
Function Large outer diameter spreads bearing load over weak or oversized holes
Selection rule Step up from DIN 125 over a slotted hole or soft sheet to spread bearing
Class pairing 200 HV series — assemblies up to property class 8.8; hardened equivalents above
Typical applications Slotted or oversized holes, thin sheet, plastics and soft substrates, body and fender work

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

Quotation

  • The fastener family (DIN 9021 Fender Washers (Large OD)) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
  • Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
  • Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
  • Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.

Sample & supply

Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.

Storage & shipping

Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions

Fender washer vs standard flat washer — when is the large OD actually needed?

When the hole or the substrate is the weak point, not the bolt. If the hole is slotted or has worn oversized, a DIN 125 washer can tilt into it or pull through; the DIN 9021 large series spans the damaged or elongated area and restores bearing. On thin sheet, plastics and other soft substrates, the wider face lowers the surface pressure so the washer does not trench or tear the material. Where the hole is a normal clearance hole in solid material, the extra diameter adds nothing — DIN 125 remains the standard choice.

What is the MOQ and lead time for this washer type?

The minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items ship in 3–7 days; non-stock items are confirmed at quotation. Common sizes in this washer type are widely stocked; confirm the exact schedule against quantity and size mix at quotation.

What should an RFQ for this washer type state?

State the standard designation (for example DIN 125 or ASTM F436), the nominal bolt size it must fit, material and hardness requirements, finish (plain, zinc-plated, or hot-dip galvanized where the assembly calls for it), required certificates such as a mill test report per EN 10204 3.1, and quantity per size — plus destination country.
