Specifications

DIN 6796 conical spring washers are stamped, conical discs that flatten elastically as the bolt is tightened and push back with spring force for the life of the joint. Unlike a split helical lock washer, whose contribution is edge bite, the conical washer works as a genuine axial spring: when the joint loses a little height — from thermal cycling, gasket creep or embedment — the cone rebounds and keeps the fastener under tension instead of letting preload decay to zero. That is why they appear in bolted connections exposed to temperature swings and vibration. The collected dimension series runs M2 to M30, with section thickness from 0.4 mm at M2 to 7 mm at M30.

Standard DIN 6796 — conical spring washers for bolted connections
Series range M2 to M30 in the collected dimension series
Worked row (M8) 8.4 mm hole × 18 mm outer diameter × 2 mm section, free height 2.6 mm (2.4 mm min)
Worked row (M12) 13 mm hole × 29 mm outer diameter × 3 mm section, free height 3.95 mm (3.43 mm min)
Mechanism Axial spring action — rebounds as the joint relaxes, keeping the fastener under tension
Serves against Preload loss from thermal expansion/contraction and vibrational forces

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

Quotation

  • The fastener family (DIN 6796 Conical Spring Washers) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
  • Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
  • Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
  • Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.

Sample & supply

Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.

Storage & shipping

Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions

When does a conical spring washer hold a joint better than a split lock washer?

When the enemy is preload decay rather than nut rotation. A split helical washer resists the nut backing off; a DIN 6796 cone instead acts as a compression spring in the joint axis, so when thermal cycling or embedment lets the stack lose a fraction of its height, the cone keeps pushing the faces apart and the bolt stays loaded. Bolted connections that cycle hot and cold, or that carry vibration which gradually seats the joint, are its natural territory. If the fastener itself can rotate loose, pair the cone with the prevailing-torque or friction method the assembly calls for — the cone preserves preload, it does not stop rotation by itself.

What is the MOQ and lead time for this washer type?

The minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items ship in 3–7 days; non-stock items are confirmed at quotation. Common sizes in this washer type are widely stocked; confirm the exact schedule against quantity and size mix at quotation.

What should an RFQ for this washer type state?

State the standard designation and form (for example ISO 7090 chamfered or DIN 7980 high-collar), the nominal bolt or screw size it must fit, material and hardness requirements, finish (plain, zinc-plated, or hot-dip galvanized where the assembly calls for it), required certificates such as a mill test report per EN 10204 3.1, and quantity per size — plus destination country.
