Specifications

A DIN 432 tab washer is the positive-lock answer to a joint that must not back off but also must not have its threads chewed up by a friction lock: the washer sits under the nut like a plain washer, and once the nut is torqued, the external tab — the ear standing proud of the outer diameter d1 — is bent down into a machined flat on the nut or against the component face, mechanically stopping rotation. The collected ladder runs every thread from M3 to M36 and carries per size the bore d (3,2 mm at M3 stepping 0,1–1 mm over nominal up to 37 mm at M36), the outer diameter d1 (12 → 75 mm), the thickness s (0,4 mm at the small end growing to 2 mm at M36), and the tab dimensions f and g as printed. One washer, one bend: bending the tab back to release the nut work-hardens the ear, so a DIN 432 washer is a single-use part — fit a new one at every reassembly. Sizing notes: the bore is the clearance fit (M3 takes a 3,2 mm bore), and the joint needs somewhere for the tab to close against — a flat on the nut (the jam-nut flats arrangement) or a machined face; where the flat cannot be machined, the internal-tab DIN 462/463 or the two-tab DIN 463 arrangements in this catalog's washers family bend into grooves and keyways instead. Material and finish are not tabulated by the collected specification — per RFQ.

Standard DIN 432 — tab washers with external tab (bent-on positive lock; single use — the ear cannot be re-bent without cracking)
Size range M3 – M36, thirteen thread sizes in the collected ladder
Bore d: 3,2 (M3) → 37 (M36) mm — clearance bore, ~nominal +0,2 to +1 mm across the ladder
Outer diameter d1: 12 → 75 mm; the external tab stands proud of d1
Thickness s: 0,4 / 0,4 / 0,75 / 0,75 / 1 / 1 / 1,2 / 1,2 / 1,2 / 1,6 / 1,6 / 1,6 / 2 mm across M3–M36
Tab geometry f and g as printed by the source: f 2,5 → 11 mm, g 4,5 → 31 mm across the ladder
Materials / finishes Not tabulated by the collected specification — per RFQ (state material, finish and the mating flat arrangement at quotation)
DIN 432 tab washers with external tab — bore, tab and thickness geometry, M3–M36All dimensions in millimetres, comma decimal separators preserved from the source. Column designations d, d1, s, f, g are as printed by the source (d = bore; the source does not expand the remaining designations). Bending procedure, material and finish are not tabulated by the source — per RFQ. A DIN 432 tab washer is bent after assembly: the external tab closes against a machined flat on the nut or the component face so the joint cannot rotate loose.

Materials

  • Material and finish specified per RFQ — tab washers bend at assembly, so formability matters as much as strength; state the environment (outdoor, chemical) with the order

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

Quotation

  • The fastener family (DIN 432 Tab Washers with External Tab) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
  • Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
  • Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
  • Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.

Sample & supply

Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.

Storage & shipping

Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions

How does a DIN 432 tab washer lock a joint, and what must the joint provide?

It locks by geometry, not friction: after the nut is torqued, you bend the external tab down over a machined flat on the nut or against a face of the component, and from then on the nut physically cannot rotate — the tab is in the way. What the joint must provide is the landing for that tab: either flats on the nut stack aligned to the outer diameter of the washer, or a machined edge or face the ear can close against. That is the one design input the collected table cannot give you — it carries the washer geometry (bore d, outer diameter d1, thickness s, tab f and g per thread size M3–M36), and the orientation of the tab after tightening depends on how far the nut finished rotating. Two practical rules: torque first, bend second — bending before the nut seats gives a false lock; and treat the washer as single-use — the ear has been work-hardened by the first bend and will crack on the second, so fit a fresh washer at every reassembly. If the joint has no machinable landing, the internal-tab DIN 462/463 or two-tab DIN 463 pages in this catalog bend into keyways and grooves instead. Material, finish and non-standard sizes are RFQ lines — the collected table stops at M36 and carries no material data.
