Specifications

DIN 1816 is the round locknut whose locking feature is drilled face holes rather than the slots of the KM series: a cylindrical nut with a fine-pitch thread, a hardened set pin driven through holes drilled in the face (counter-bored "d4" holes in the collected ladder) rides against the bearing shoulder or shaft thread and is locked by that pin instead of a lockwasher tab. Compared with the KM/KMN locknuts in this catalog, the pin-locked face leaves the full circumference free of slot cut-outs — the nut runs truer at speed and presents no slot edges to windage or cleaning fluids, which is why the series runs to very large threads (the collected ladder tops out at M200×3, dk 270 mm). The collected table carries per thread the outside diameter dk (16 → 270 mm), the height k (5 → 20 mm), the pin-hole diameter d4 (2,5 → 10 mm) and count (4 → 8), plus the d1, t and h dimensions as lettered by the source. Read the ladder with one caution: where the source repeats a designation across two diameter variants (M24, M28) or carries one obvious mislabel (the "M20x1,5" row at dk 80), the rows are reproduced verbatim and flagged under the table — confirm the exact designation and outside diameter on the RFQ. Mounting: the nut is threaded on until it seats, then the pin is driven through the face hole into a matching dimple or slot in the shaft — the shaft or the mating lock element must provide that landing. Materials and hardness are not tabulated by the collected specification — per RFQ.

Height / pin holes k: 5 → 20 mm; pin-hole diameter d4: 2,5 → 10 mm; 4 holes to M45, 6 from M45, 8 from M125
Tolerance classes dk h11, pin holes d4 H11, height k h14 (tolerance row as printed by the source)
Materials / hardness Not tabulated by the collected specification — per RFQ (state shaft material and locking-pin arrangement at quotation)
DIN 1816 round nuts with set-pin holes inside — diameter, height and pin-hole series, M6×0,75 – M200×3All dimensions in millimetres, comma decimal separators preserved from the source. The source prints a tolerance-class header row (dk h11, d4 H11, k h14) as a table line; it is reproduced here in prose rather than as a data row. "holes" is the number of set-pin holes. Where the source repeats a thread designation across two rows (light/heavy diameter variants), both rows are reproduced verbatim and flagged below.

  • Row 11 (M24x1,5): The thread designation M24x1,5 appears on two consecutive rows (dk 42 / dk 45): the source serves the two diameter variants without labelling them. Reproduced verbatim; state the required outside diameter on the RFQ.
  • Row 13 (M28x1,5): M28x1,5 appears twice with identical geometry but different weights (10,3 / 9,55 kg) — a source quirk reproduced verbatim. Verify before quoting.
  • Row 22 (M20x1,5): The designation "M20x1,5" at dk 80 sits in the M50–M56 range of the ladder and is almost certainly a mislabelled thread designation in the source; the row is reproduced verbatim — verify the designation against DIN 1816 before ordering this size.

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

Quotation

  • The fastener family (DIN 1816 Round Nuts with Set-Pin Holes (Inside)) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
  • Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
  • Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
  • Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.

Sample & supply

Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.

Storage & shipping

Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions

DIN 1816 or DIN 981 (KM) — how do I choose the locknut, and what does the pin need?

Both lock a bearing positioning nut against rotation; the locking interface differs. The KM/DIN 981 series in this catalog locks through an outer tab washer, with slots cut into the nut circumference; DIN 1816 locks through a set pin driven into face holes, so the circumference stays continuous. That continuity is the selection argument: at higher speeds, in washdown or grit-laden environments, or where the nut runs close to a seal, the slot-free face runs cleaner and truer. What the pin needs from the rest of the assembly is the landing: a dimple, flat or keyway in the shaft aligned with one of the face holes when the nut is at final torque — plan that feature into the shaft drawing, because the collected table fixes the pin geometry (d4 2,5 → 10 mm, four to eight holes by size) but not the landing. Read the collected ladder at the duplicate designations with care: M24 and M28 each appear on two diameter variants and one row is an obvious designation mislabel (flagged under the table) — quote thread and outside diameter together on the RFQ. Material, hardness and matching pins are not tabulated by the collected specification — RFQ lines.
