Specifications

DIN 466 is the high-type knurled nut: a small cylindrical nut with a formed (pressed) knurl around the rim and an internal thread, tightened and released by hand. The knurl is a grip feature, not a precision one — which is why the standard lives on the small end of the thread range, M1 to M10 in the collected tables: optical benches, instrument panels, electrical terminals, antenna and microphone clamps, jig fixtures — anywhere a cover plate or a stop needs frequent finger adjustment without a spanner marking a hex. The collected tables print, per size: pitch P, the chamfer c, knurled-body diameter d k (nominal/max/min), d s, overall height h, knurl height k, r, the knurling division (knurl pitch, 0.5–0.8 mm across the range) and the source's mass-per-1000 figure. The source marks the size column ③ and some c cells ① with no legend — reproduced verbatim and disclosed. The low-type counterpart is the DIN 467 page on this site; materials and finishes are not tabulated by the collected specification and stay per RFQ.

Standard DIN 466 — knurled nuts, high type (hand-tightened round nuts with formed knurl)
Series M1 – M10 (four source column groups)
Tabulated geometry Per size: pitch P, chamfer c (≈, some cells printed ①), body d k (nominal/max/min), d s, height h, knurl height k, r, knurling division (0.5–0.8 mm), mass per 1000 ≈ kg
Function Formed knurl gives fingers the torque — no tools, no marred surfaces on adjusted parts
Materials / finish Not tabulated by the collected specification — per RFQ
DIN 466 knurled nuts, high type - per-size dimensions (M1 - M1.4)All dimensions in millimeters. The size column is marked "Thread Size d ③" and the c row prints "①" at M1-M2.5 — the ①/③ markers carry no published legend and are reproduced verbatim. Attribute labels: P = pitch; c = chamfer (≈); d k = knurled-body diameter (nominal/max/min); d s = printed max=nominal/min; h = overall height; k = knurl height; r = as printed; "Knurling division" = knurl pitch as printed.

Materials

  • Material and finish specified per RFQ — brass and steel are the usual small-nut options; confirm at quotation

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

Quotation

  • The fastener family (DIN 466 Knurled Nuts — High Type) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
  • Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
  • Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
  • Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.

Sample & supply

Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.

Storage & shipping

Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions

DIN 466 or DIN 467 for a hand-adjusted assembly?

By the torque you need to hold. Both are the same knurled-round form on the same thread range — the collected tables show identical body diameters d k per size — but DIN 466 is the tall type (h runs 3.5 mm at M1 to 23 mm at M10) while DIN 467 is the low type (2 mm at M1 to 10 mm at M10). The taller nut gives fingers a longer lever and the thread more engagement, so it holds better against vibration and suits parts that are re-adjusted often; the low type sits flush where height is budgeted — under knobs, inside covers, on instrument front panels. If the nut must resist anything more than finger torque, neither is the answer: add a locknut or move to a hex nut with a washer, because a formed knurl will slip in a pliers-grip situation and the small threads will strip long before a hex would. Check the knurling-division column if the nut rotates visibly — the knurl pitch (0.5 mm at the small sizes, 0.8 at M10) sets the look of the rim.

What is the MOQ and lead time for this nut type?

The minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items ship in 3–7 days; non-stock items are confirmed at quotation. Common sizes in this nut type are widely stocked; confirm the exact schedule against quantity and size mix at quotation.
