Specifications

The socket cap barrel nut is the small-end member of the family: M2 through M5, driven from inside by a hex recess, so it needs no external access and can sit inside a counterbore for an unobtrusive finished face — useful in confined spaces where an externally driven head would never fit. The collected tabulation gives per-thread bodies of 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 and 12 mm, cap heads of 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 20 mm, thread engagements of 4–16 mm, head heights of 3–8 mm and hex recesses of 2–6 mm A/F, with a tabulated length ladder from 6 mm to 50 mm. Supply is 303/A1 free-machining stainless and 316/A4 seawater-grade stainless, and the mating socket cap screws can be sourced with the nuts. Electronics enclosures, instruments, small enclosures and precision sheet-metal assemblies are the natural applications — anywhere a full-size nut would overpower the joint.

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

Quotation

  • The fastener family (SB010 Socket Cap Barrel Nuts) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
  • Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
  • Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
  • Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.

Sample & supply

Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.

Storage & shipping

Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions

When does a socket cap barrel nut beat an externally driven barrel nut?

In two situations: confined spaces, where there is no room for a wrench or driver around the outside of the head, and appearance-critical faces, where the nut can be dropped into a counterbore so the hex recess is all that shows — or faces away entirely. The internally driven design also survives torque application without marring the visible head, which is why instrument and enclosure builds favour it at the small M2–M5 end of the range.

What is the MOQ and lead time for this nut type?

The minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items ship in 3–7 days; non-stock items are confirmed at quotation. Common diameters in this nut type are widely stocked; confirm the exact schedule against quantity and size mix at quotation.

What should an RFQ for this nut type state?

State the designation (for example the barrel-nut SKU and head style), nominal thread size and pitch, overall barrel length or grip, material and finish (plain, zinc, or stainless where compatible), whether a through-hole or blind (closed) end barrel is required, the mating screw specification, required certificates, and quantity per size — plus destination country.
