DIN 917 Hex Cap Nuts — Low Type
DIN 917 hex cap nuts, low type, M4 to M72 — the domed hex nut that covers the thread end, in the low-domed height for compact joints — with the collected per-size tables across seven column groups, including the source's series 1/2/3 thread rows.
Last updated: 2026-11
Specifications
DIN 917 is the low-type hex cap nut: a standard hex nut body closed by a low dome that hides the protruding bolt end. The covered thread is why it gets specified — no snagged threads on exposed studs, no corrosion starting in the exposed first turns, and a finished look on guards, handles and architectural hardware. The "low type" dome keeps the overall height h close to a plain nut plus a modest cap, so it substitutes where a tall cap nut would not fit. The collected tables span M4 to M72 in seven source column groups, and they carry the standard's thread-series structure verbatim: the P (pitch), x and g rows are split into series 1/2/3 sub-rows — coarse thread plus two fine-thread series — with "/" (and occasionally "-") where a series does not cover the size, all reproduced and disclosed in the unit notes. Also tabulated per size: d a, d w, across corners e, height h, r, across flats s, cap depth t and w. Parenthesized sizes are the non-preferred series as printed. Property classes and finishes are not tabulated by the collected specification and stay per RFQ.

Ordering & documentation
Documents
Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.
Quotation
- The fastener family (DIN 917 Hex Cap Nuts — Low Type) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
- Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
- Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
- Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.
Sample & supply
Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.
Storage & shipping
Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.
Frequently asked questions
What should I check before substituting a cap nut for a plain hex nut?
Three things, all readable from the collected tables. Height: the low-type dome still adds height over a plain nut — compare the h column against the clearance you have (25 mm at M20, 44 mm at M36). Strength: a cap nut's dome is hollow, so the nut cannot be torqued like a solid nut of the same class — the cap deforms if wrenched on the dome, and the standard's proof loads for cap nuts run lower than the equivalent plain nut; size the property class at RFQ against the stud, and torque on the hex only. Thread series: the source's series 1/2/3 rows show which coarse and fine pitches each size takes — read the "/" cells as "this series does not cover the size" and order by the series your stud actually is. The dome covers the thread end, so also confirm the stud projection: too long bottoms the stud in the cap and holds the dome off the hex, defeating the seal and the look.
What is the MOQ and lead time for this nut type?
The minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items ship in 3–7 days; non-stock items are confirmed at quotation. Common sizes in this nut type are widely stocked; confirm the exact schedule against quantity and size mix at quotation.
