Specifications

A DIN 929 hex weld nut puts a serviceable machine thread into sheet metal too thin to tap. Four weld projections on the bearing face touch the sheet first; resistance welding current fuses them, and the nut sits flush with a thread that survives repeated assembly cycles — the standard solution on brackets, chassis panels and enclosures where a self-tapping thread would strip or a projection weld stud would show through. The collected table covers M3 to M16 with thread pitch (coarse plus the source's fine-thread columns), weld-projection height b, weld-ring diameter d 1, pilot diameter d 2, bore d3, width across corners e, projection heights h 1 / h 2, nut height m, width across flats s, the source's reference mass per 1000 units, and its Ensure-the-load proof-load rows in newtons. The source also prints two 7/16 UNF-2B inch columns inside the metric series — reproduced verbatim with the source's markers. Materials and finishes are not printed by the collected specification and stay per RFQ. The round-body counterpart is DIN 928's square form on the same welding principle.

Standard DIN 929 — hex weld nuts (resistance-welded, projections on bearing face)
Series M3 – M16 (source also prints two 7/16 UNF-2B ① inch columns, reproduced verbatim)
Tabulated geometry Per size: pitch P (coarse + fine columns), projection height b, weld-ring d 1, pilot d 2, bore d3, across corners e, projection heights h 1 / h 2, height m, across flats s, reference mass per 1000 units ≈ kg
Proof load Source "Ensure the load(N)" rows in newtons per size — coarse and fine thread columns
Function Fuses into sheet by projection welding; gives a reusable machine thread in thin panel
Materials / strength Not tabulated by the collected specification beyond the source proof-load rows — per RFQ (weldability grade per application)
DIN 929 hex weld nuts - per-size dimensions (M3 - M16, with source 7/16 UNF columns)All dimensions in millimeters except where noted. Attribute labels follow the source: P = thread pitch (Coarse thread column; the source also prints Fine thread 1 / Fine thread 2 pitch columns — reproduced verbatim); b = weld-projection height (Nominal Size / max / min); d 1 = weld-ring diameter (Nominal Size (d11) / max / min); d 2 = pilot diameter (min=nominal size (H13) / max); d3 = bore max; e = width across corners min; h 1 / h 2 = weld-projection heights (max / min); m = nut height (max=nominal size (h14) / min); s = width across flats (max=nominal size (h13) / min); per 1000 units ≈ kg = the source's reference mass; Ensure the load(N) = the source's proof-load rows in newtons (Coarse / Fine thread 1 / Fine thread 2). The two '7/16 UNF-2B ①' columns are printed by the source inside the metric series — the ① marker and the '20*' fine-pitch entry carry no legend on the collected page and are reproduced verbatim; they are inch-series unified fine-thread variants, not metric sizes. The (M14) size appears in parentheses in the source. Materials and finishes are not tabulated by the collected specification.

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

Quotation

  • The fastener family (DIN 929 Hex Weld Nuts) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
  • Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
  • Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
  • Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.

Sample & supply

Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.

Storage & shipping

Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions

Weld nut or tapped sheet — when is DIN 929 worth the welding step?

When the joint is assembled more than once. A thread tapped into 1.5 mm sheet has one or two usable engagements and strips on the third; a DIN 929 weld nut carries a full hex-nut thread depth in sheet half that thick, so the same fastener can be serviced indefinitely. The cost is the welding setup — an electrode or gun sized to the pilot diameter d 2 in the tabulated table, and projections that burn cleanly into plain low-carbon sheet. On galvanized or coated panel the coating burns back at the projections and the weld should be qualified on the actual stack. Once the fixture exists, the per-part cost is cents and the thread is bulletproof.

What is the MOQ and lead time for this nut type?

The minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items ship in 3–7 days; non-stock items are confirmed at quotation. Common diameters in this nut type are widely stocked; confirm the exact schedule against quantity and size mix at quotation.
