DIN 787 Bolts for T-Slots
DIN 787 T-slot bolts, M5 to M48: T-slot width a with limit deviations, head and hook geometry (d2, e1, f, h1, h2, k) and commercial length ladders per slot size.
Last updated: 2026-11
Specifications
DIN 787 is the square-headed T-slot bolt that drops into a machine table slot and turns a quarter to lock — the collected 02/2005-edition table pairs each thread size with the T-slot width a it fits (a = 5 for M5 up to a = 54 for M48, with the slot-width limit deviations printed beside it, e.g. -0.3/-0.5 on the small slots and -0.4/-0.8 at M48), plus the head dimensions that matter for the slot: shank d2, head width e1, hook depth f, head heights h1/h2 and k. Note the source prints M12 twice — the thread serves both the a = 12 and a = 14 slots, with the second row carrying its own larger head (e1 22 versus 18) and an empty h2 cell — carried verbatim in the grid. The length ladders give the commercial l per size and the mass table prices the long clamping bolts. Fixture, clamp and press-table builders order these by slot width first: the thread follows the slot, not the other way round.
| Standard / scope | DIN 787 bolts and screws for T-slots — M5 to M48, edition 02/2005 (supersedes 07/2002) |
|---|---|
| T-slot width a | Per size with limit deviations printed: 5 (M5) to 54 (M48); M12 covers two slots (a = 12 and a = 14, separate head rows). The deviations are the slot fit, not the bolt tolerance |
| Head geometry | Shank d2, head width e1, hook f, heights h1/h2 and k per size — the dimensions that decide slot engagement and swing clearance |
| Commercial lengths l | Ladder per size in the second grid (M5 short clamping lengths through M48 long bolts); mass per 1000 pcs (ρ=7,85 kg/dm³) tabulated |
| Not tabulated | Strength class, finish, left-hand variants — per RFQ |
Materials
- T-slot bolts are typically medium-carbon steel, class 8.8-type strength for clamping duty, often zinc-plated or blackened; the hook end is forged or upset, not machined from thread rod. State thread size and T-slot width together (the fit is the pairing that matters), required length under the table, and finish; stainless variants for food or chemical table service are quoted against the same geometry
Ordering & documentation
Documents
Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.
Quotation
- The fastener family (DIN 787 Bolts for T-Slots) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
- Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
- Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
- Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.
Sample & supply
Minimum order quantity is 1,000–10,000 pieces depending on size. Stock items run 3–7 days. High-strength and custom parts run 15–25 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.
Storage & shipping
Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the table print M12 twice, and which row is mine?
Because the standard covers T-slots in two widths that both take an M12 bolt — the source grid carries the two rows back to back, each with its own slot width a and head dimensions, and the collected table reproduces that verbatim rather than merging them. Practically: identify your bolt by slot width first (measure the slot across, then read the a column), and take the thread size from the same row. Ordering "M12 T-bolt" without the slot width is the single most common error on these RFQs — the two M12s are not interchangeable in the slot.
What does the a limit deviation column mean for my machine table?
It is the tolerance band of the T-slot itself from the machine-tool standards, not a tighter bolt: a slot nominal 54 wide with -0.4/-0.8 machines out between 53.2 and 53.6, and the DIN 787 hook dimensions are set so the bolt seats in that band with the small clearance the table needs to slide the bolt in and rotate it. If your table is worn or the slots were re-cut, measure the actual slot width and send it with the RFQ — oversized slots may need the next size up or a stepped custom hook, which we quote against drawing.
