DIN 960 Hex Bolts (Fine Pitch, Partially Threaded)

Partially threaded hexagon head bolts with fine-pitch thread per DIN 960 — nine size-block grids covering M8 to M100, with one or two fine pitch selections per size, thread-length bands L≤125 / 125<L≤200 / L>200 and product grades A/B tolerance rows. Fine-pitch counterpart of DIN 931; ISO successor designation: ISO 8765.

DIN 960 Hex Bolts (Fine Pitch, Partially Threaded) in an industrial setting

Specifications

DIN 960 is the fine-pitch member of the DIN hex-bolt pair: the same hexagon head geometry buyers know from DIN 931, but with a reduced-pitch thread and a defined unthreaded shank between head and thread. Fine pitch is chosen for a reason, and the collected tables show the mechanics of it: each size block carries a fine thread-1 pitch row and, where the size has one, a fine thread-2 row (M8 carries a single fine pitch of 1; M10 and M12 run 1 / 1.25 and 1.5 / 1.25; M20 runs 1.5 / 2; the largest blocks M80 - M100 tabulate a single fine pitch of 4). A finer pitch buys adjustment sensitivity and thin-nut engagement on tapped parts, vibration resistance from the shallower helix, and higher effective tensile stress area than the coarse thread of the same diameter — at the cost of easier thread damage and a stricter cleanliness discipline during assembly. The thread-length bands (L≤125, 125<L≤200, L>200) make the shank a sized feature: the bolt must be selected so the thread runout falls outside the grip, exactly as with its coarse-pitch counterpart. The grids print Grade A and Grade B min rows (tolerance classes, not strength), and many Grade A cells in the largest blocks print "-" — carried verbatim from the source, meaning the value is not tabulated there. Strength grades, proof loads and finish are not tabulated on this page — per RFQ.

Standard DIN 960 — hexagon head bolts, fine-pitch thread, partially threaded; size blocks M8 - M100
Thread Fine pitch selections per size as printed (fine thread-1 / fine thread-2): e.g. M8 1 / -, M10 1 / 1.25, M12 1.5 / 1.25, M20 1.5 / 2, M36 3 / -, M80 - M100 a single fine pitch of 4
Thread-length bands b for L≤125, 125<L≤200 and L>200, tabulated per size (e.g. M12: 30 / 36 / 49; M100: - / - / 225 — the L≤125 row is empty from M56 up, as printed)
Product grades A and B tolerance rows in the grids (da, ds, dw, e, k, s carry Grade A / Grade B min pairs where tabulated); tolerance class, not strength — property class per RFQ
Head geometry (anchor sizes from the collected tables) Width across flats s max = nominal size (M12: 18, M20: 30, M36: 55, M100: 145); head height k nominal (M12: 7.5, M20: 12.5, M36: 22.5, M100: 63); e min Grade B (M12: 20.88, M36: 60.79, M100: 161.03)
Series extent Non-preferred sizes print in parentheses in the grid headers, as on the source: (M14), (M18), (M22), (M27), (M39), (M45), (M52), (M60), (M68), (M76)
Counterpart / successor Fine-pitch counterpart of DIN 931 (coarse DIN pair); ISO successor designation ISO 8765 — read the drawing before substituting between designations
Not tabulated Strength grades (ISO 898-1 classes), proof loads, materials, finish — per RFQ

Materials

  • Fine-pitch hex bolts ship in the same material spectrum as the coarse series — carbon steel by property class and stainless A2/A4. The dimensions tabulated here are material-independent; state pitch explicitly on the RFQ (a fine pitch left unspecified is the single most common fulfillment error on this family)

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

Quotation

  • The fastener family (DIN 960 Hex Bolts (Fine Pitch, Partially Threaded)) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
  • Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
  • Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
  • Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.

Sample & supply

Minimum order quantity is 1,000–10,000 pieces depending on size. Stock items run 3–7 days. High-strength and custom parts run 15–25 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.

Storage & shipping

Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions

Which fine pitch do I order when a DIN 960 size lists two selections?

The one on the drawing — that is exactly why the grids carry both a fine thread-1 and a fine thread-2 row. Two selections exist only where the second row prints a value: M10 (1 / 1.25), M12 (1.5 / 1.25), M18 (2 / 1.5) and the M20 - M24 block (1.5 / 2, 2 / 1.5, 2 / 1.5 — note the ordering swaps per size, as printed). Every other size carries a single fine pitch — 1 at M8, rising through 1.5, 2 and 3 to 4 across the largest blocks — with the fine thread-2 row printing "-". A nut bought for the wrong selection threads on by one or two turns and then binds, and no amount of torque fixes a pitch mismatch — state "DIN 960 M20 × 1.5" on the RFQ, diameter and pitch together, the way the tables print them.

What do the parentheses in the size headers and the "-" cells mean?

Both are the source's own markings, carried verbatim. Parentheses around a size — (M14), (M18), (M22), (M27), (M39), (M45), (M52), (M60), (M68), (M76) — mark the non-preferred sizes of the ladder; they are manufactured and quoted, but a drawing that does not force them should first consider the preferred neighbours. The "-" cells mean the value is not tabulated at that position: Grade A minimums disappear across the largest blocks (M80 - M100 rows for ds, dw, e, k and s print Grade B only), and the L≤125 thread length row is empty from M56 up — even the 125<L≤200 band prints "-" for M100. Read "-" as "ask, don't assume" — quote the size and pitch on the RFQ and we confirm the tabulated geometry before quoting.
