GB/T 15389-2025 Threaded Rod

Threaded rod to China's current national standard GB/T 15389-2025 — coarse threads M2–M68 and fine threads M8×1–M72×6, carbon steel classes 8.8/10.9/12.9, nine stainless performance grades from A2-50 to D6-80, 6g thread tolerance, with 2025-revision passivation, zinc-flake and hot-dip galvanizing requirements. Effective February 1, 2026.

Specifications

GB/T 15389-2025 is the revised Chinese national standard for threaded rod, issued October 2025 and effective February 1, 2026, superseding the 1994 version that had non-equivalently adopted DIN 975:1986. The 2025 revision widens the size envelope well beyond the DIN range — coarse threads to M68 and fine threads to M72×6 — adds carbon steel classes 8.8/10.9/12.9 alongside nine stainless performance grades (A2-50 up to D6-80), and writes surface-treatment requirements into the standard: passivation for stainless rods, non-electrolytic zinc flake or hot-dip galvanizing for steel, plus marking and labelling rules. For China-market procurement and power-plant construction it is the document to specify; rods from compliant mills often meet DIN 976-1 requirements simultaneously.

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

Quotation

  • The fastener family (GB/T 15389-2025 Threaded Rod) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
  • Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
  • Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
  • Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.

Sample & supply

Minimum order quantity is 1,000–10,000 pieces depending on size. Stock items run 3–7 days. High-strength and custom parts run 15–25 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.

Storage & shipping

Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions

Can GB/T 15389 threaded rod be interchanged with DIN 975 / DIN 976 rod?

In many everyday applications yes — the 1994 edition was adopted from DIN 975:1986, so corresponding sizes and grades share a common origin and many mills produce rod compliant with both. But interchangeability has limits: GB/T 15389-2025 extends to M68 coarse / M72×6 fine (beyond DIN's M64), offers stainless performance grades DIN does not list (up to A4-80), and now writes passivation and coating requirements into the standard. For critical or code-governed joints, specify the standard the design references rather than assuming equivalence.

What changed in the 2025 revision of GB/T 15389?

Four things a buyer will notice: carbon steel property classes 8.8/10.9/12.9 were added alongside the stainless grades; rods with chamfered ends on both sides were added; surface treatment became a standard requirement (passivation for stainless, zinc flake or hot-dip galvanizing for steel) instead of manufacturer discretion; and marking/labelling requirements were introduced. The size envelope also grew to M2–M68 coarse and M8×1–M72×6 fine, with an expanded length series and theoretical mass tables.
