Specifications

The M series stops at M1.6; below that, ASME B1.10M's UNM series takes over — the thread system for watchmaking, optical instruments, electronics subminiature hardware and medical devices, running 0.30 to 1.40 mm in pitch steps from 0.080 to 0.300 mm. The collected charts print both halves of the pair per size, and at this scale the numbers are literally gage-room: a 0.50 UNM external thread runs major 0.500/0.479 mm, pitch diameter 0.419/0.401, minor 0.357/0.329 — total pitch-diameter tolerance 0.018 mm, about a quarter the width of a human hair. Reading the two tables together shows the pairing logic: the external thread sits below basic (machined bolts and screws), the internal above (tapped or formed nuts and holes), so a miniature screw always enters its mating hole despite manufacturing spread measured in hundredths of a millimetre. Each diameter group carries its own tolerance column per size — the external major tolerance rises from 0.016 mm at 0.30 UNM to 0.042 mm at 1.40 UNM, the external pitch-diameter tolerance from 0.014 to 0.032 mm. Practical scale: at these sizes, thread condition depends on handling alone — parts are gaged optically or with specialty miniature gages, and torque values are gram-centimetre territory. Material, coating and gaging method are not tabulated — per RFQ; the screw-head geometry companion is the ASME B18.11 miniature screws page.

Standard ASME B1.10M — unified miniature screw threads (UNM), extending the unified/M profile into the 0.30 – 1.40 mm diameter range below the M series floor (M1.6)
Size range 0.30 – 1.40 UNM, 14 sizes; pitches 0.080 – 0.300 mm; external (bolt/screw) 14 rows + internal (nut/hole) 14 rows
External limits (mm) Per row: major max/min + tol., pitch dia. max/min + tol., minor max/min; example 0.50 UNM: 0.500/0.479 tol 0.021, 0.419/0.401 tol 0.018, 0.357/0.329
Internal limits (mm) Per row: minor min/max + tol., pitch dia. min/max + tol., major min/max; example 0.50 UNM: 0.390/0.432 tol 0.052, 0.419/0.437 tol 0.018, 0.500/0.529
Gaging / materials Gage method (optical/miniature gages), material and coating not tabulated by the collected charts — per RFQ
ASME B1.10M unified miniature screw threads (UNM) — external thread limits of size and tolerances (0.30 – 1.40 mm)All dimensions in millimetres. UNM extends the M profile and unified series down into the 0.30 – 1.40 mm diameter range the M series does not cover (M begins at 1.6 mm). Major/pitch/minor diameter max/min per size, each diameter group with its tolerance column as printed by the source. x97: rebuilt to the source's full 10-column grid (major/minor tolerance columns restored; the previously carried table dropped the minor-diameter tolerance and mislabelled the major tolerance as a pitch-diameter tolerance) — values unchanged, verified cell-for-cell.

Materials

  • Stainless and precious-metal coatings common at this scale for corrosion and contact resistance — specify material, finish and gaging expectation at RFQ

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

Quotation

  • The fastener family (ASME B1.10M Unified Miniature Screw Threads (UNM) — External + Internal Limits, 0.30 – 1.40 mm) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
  • Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
  • Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
  • Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.

Sample & supply

Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.

Storage & shipping

Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions

At UNM scale, what actually governs a successful miniature threaded assembly — and what should be specified beyond the thread limits?

Below 1.4 mm, the thread limits on this page are necessary but not sufficient — assembly success is dominated by things the chart cannot print. Handling: a 0.50 UNM screw's pitch-diameter tolerance is 0.018 mm; a fingerprint's oil film or a single handling nick approaches that scale, so parts must be cleaned, handled with tools (never fingers) and assembled in controlled torque — gram-centimetre drivers, not feel. Gaging: GO/NOGO plug-and-ring sets become impractical below roughly 1 mm, so receiving inspection typically runs optical comparators or specialty miniature gages — name the gaging expectation at RFQ so incoming stock arrives with compatible certification. Material and finish carry proportionally more weight too: at miniature scale, corrosion eats a thread's flank fraction in months where a full-size thread shrugs it off for years, so stainless or coated parts are the default rather than an upgrade, and precious-metal or conductive finishes on electronics hardware are specified for contact resistance, not appearance. The chart's pairing logic — external below basic, internal above — still holds and the two tables on this page are the mating reference. For custom micro-fasteners with drive features (Torx-style, slotted), the head geometry comes from the ASME B18.11 page and drive-feature tolerancing is a per-RFQ drawing conversation.

What is the MOQ and lead time for threaded parts on this standard?

The minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items ship in 3–7 days; non-stock items are confirmed at quotation. Common thread sizes on this standard are widely stocked; confirm the exact schedule against quantity and size mix at quotation.
