ISO 7046-2 Cross-Recessed Countersunk Flat Head Screws
ISO 7046-2 cross-recessed countersunk flat head screws, 90° head, M2 to M10 — the general-purpose countersunk machine screw — with the collected size table including Series 1/2 cross-recess penetration depths for Type H and Type Z drivers.
Last updated: 2026-11
Specifications
ISO 7046-2 defines the everyday cross-recessed countersunk screw: a 90° flat head that seats flush in a standard countersink, driven by a Phillips (Type H) or Pozidriv (Type Z) recess. The "-2" in the designation is what separates this page from the ISO 7046-1 counterpart on this site: part 2 specifies the head with the cross recess gauged not just by size but by penetration depth — how deep the driver must seat before the recess geometry is right — and that data is the heart of the collected table. For each thread size the table prints two recess series: Series 1, the standard-depth recess, and Series 2, the deep series for applications needing higher driver engagement, each with nominal recess diameter and min/max penetration depth for both Type H and Type Z. The rest of the table carries head diameter d k with max/min bands, head height k, fillet r, runout x, and the thread length b ladder per size. With no recess letter on the drawing, Series 1 Type H is the default commercial interpretation — call the series and type explicitly when the assembly relies on cam-out behaviour or deep driver seating. ISO 7046-1 (the base countersunk part) is covered separately on this site.

Ordering & documentation
Documents
Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.
Quotation
- The fastener family (ISO 7046-2 Cross-Recessed Countersunk Flat Head Screws) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
- Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
- Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
- Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.
Sample & supply
Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.
Storage & shipping
Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.
Frequently asked questions
ISO 7046-1 or 7046-2 — what actually differs, and which recess should be quoted?
Both parts describe the same 90° countersunk head; they differ in how the cross recess is specified. Part 1 fixes the recess by form and dimensions alone; part 2 adds the penetration-depth gauge — the depth the driver must reach for the recess to be within specification — and that extra control is what produces consistent driver engagement and predictable cam-out on high-volume assembly lines. The collected table then splits each size into Series 1 and Series 2 (standard and deep recess) for both Type H (Phillips) and Type Z (Pozidriv), each with its own min/max penetration band — at M4, Series 1 Type H sits at 2.1–2.6 mm while Type Z runs 2.06–2.51 mm. Quoting guidance: if the drawing is silent, Series 1 Type H is the commercial default; specify Type Z where Pozidriv drivers and lower cam-out are the norm, and Series 2 where deep engagement is needed. Read the numbers against the driver gauge, not the recess number alone — two recesses of the same number can still seat differently across the depth band.
What is the MOQ and lead time for these screws?
Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces per item. Stocked sizes ship in 3–7 days; non-stock diameters, lengths or finishes are quoted with a confirmed schedule. Common sizes in this designation are widely stocked — confirm the exact schedule against quantity and size mix at quotation.
