Stub Acme Thread Dimensions — ASME B1.8 2G Limits of Size (1/4-16 to 5-2, inch)
Limits of size for Stub Acme screw threads per ASME B1.8 — the same 23-designation ladder from 1/4-16 to 5-2 at class 2G with major, pitch and minor diameter max/min, transcribed row-for-row from the collected chart.

Specifications
Stub Acme keeps the 29° Acme flank angle but cuts the thread depth to roughly half — a shallow, coarse-pitch form for the cases the B1.8 document names directly: where mechanics or metallurgy will not tolerate a full-depth thread. Thin-wall cylinders, hollow shafts that cannot give up wall to a deep groove, hard materials where the shallow form reduces the cutting load, and retrofit work where an existing groove depth is fixed — that is Stub Acme territory. The collected chart prints the same acceptance data as the general-purpose Acme page: 23 designations from 1/4-16 to 5-2, each with major, pitch and minor diameter max/min at class 2G. Compare the two ladders at the same nominal and the form difference is visible in the numbers: at 1-5, full Acme bottoms out at a minor of 0.7509 in while Stub Acme stops at 0.8406 — the root sits that much closer to the pitch line, and even the pitch-diameter window rides higher (0.9126-0.9320 in against full Acme at 0.8726-0.8920), both the signature of the shallower 0.3p engagement. Practically: shallower threads carry lower load per engagement but stress the screw less, cut faster, and fit where depth does not exist. The same source notes apply as the Acme chart — lexicographic row order (flagged), class 2G only, everything else per RFQ.

- Row 1 (1 1/2-4): Source row order is lexicographic, not by size (same ordering quirk as the Acme chart; both tables come from the same reference family) — reproduced as printed.
Materials
- Stub Acme parts run in steel, stainless and bronze-matched pairs; the chart is form-and-fit data and is material-independent. State the alloy and mating nut material at RFQ
Ordering & documentation
Documents
Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.
Quotation
- The fastener family (Stub Acme Thread Dimensions — ASME B1.8 2G Limits of Size (1/4-16 to 5-2, inch)) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
- Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
- Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
- Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.
Sample & supply
Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.
Storage & shipping
Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.
Frequently asked questions
When does Stub Acme beat full Acme, and how do I tell the two apart on a drawing or a chart like this one?
Choose Stub Acme when thread depth is the binding constraint: the shallow 0.3p form needs roughly half the groove depth of full Acme, so it fits thin-wall cylinders and hollow leadscrews without sacrificing the wall, cuts with less load in hardened stock, and retrofits into housings already machined for a shallow groove. The trade is load capacity — less flank engagement height per turn means lower static capacity than the same nominal full Acme, so it is not a general substitute where depth is free. Telling them apart: both charts here carry the identical designation ladder and the identical 2G pitch-diameter window (B1.5 and B1.8 align the pitch columns), so the giveaway is the minor diameter — full Acme at 1-5 bottoms at 0.7509 in while Stub Acme stays well above it, its root much nearer the pitch line. On a drawing, the callout names the standard (B1.5 general-purpose Acme vs B1.8 Stub Acme); never accept a part cut to the wrong minor band — the flank engagement, and with it the load capacity, is not the same part. Same boundaries as the full-Acme page: class 2G only in this chart, and lead accuracy, fit class changes and material pairing are RFQ conversations.
What is the MOQ and lead time for threaded parts and tooling referenced by this chart?
The minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items ship in 3–7 days; non-stock items are confirmed at quotation. Confirm the exact schedule against quantity, size mix and any tooling items at quotation.
