Specifications

DIN 923 is the benchmark slotted pan head machine screw: a rounded head with a flat bearing circle, seated on the surface, driven by a simple blade — the form against which the small-head (DIN 920) and large-head (DIN 921) variants are measured. It is the default where a low-ish, forgiving head and the serviceability of a slot matter more than torque: electrical assemblies, housings, brackets, maintenance work where the right driver is always a flat blade away. The collected table runs M1.4 to M10 and tabulates per size: pitch P, thread length b as a minimum (the column that decides clamped-stack coverage), head diameter d k and shank d s each with max=nominal / min bands, head height k, slot width n and slot depth t with their limit bands. The shank d s band matters for drawings that pass the screw through close holes; the b minimum matters because everything stacked beyond it is clamped by thread only if the grip length is chosen accordingly. Materials, property classes and finishes are not printed by the collected specification and follow the drawing callout.

Standard DIN 923 — slotted pan head screws (standard head series)
Series M1.4 – M10 (10 sizes tabulated)
Tabulated geometry Per size: pitch P, thread length b min, head diameter d k (max=nominal / min), shank d s (max=nominal / min), head height k (Nominal / max / min), slot width n (Nominal / max / min), slot depth t (max / min)
Dimensions at M4 Thread b min 6; head d k max=nominal 8.5 / min 8.28; shank d s max=nominal 5.5 / min 5.47; head height k nominal 2.4; slot n nominal 1 (1.06–1.2); slot depth t max 1.5 / min 1.3
Dimensions at M10 Thread b min 13.5; head d k max=nominal 20 / min 19.67; shank d s max=nominal 13 / min 12.957; head height k nominal 4.6; slot n nominal 2.5 (2.56–2.81); slot depth t max 2.8 / min 2.3
Head / drive form Standard pan head with slotted drive — the reference head of the slotted machine-screw family
Materials / strength Not tabulated by the collected specification — per RFQ (property class and finish per drawing callout)

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

Quotation

  • The fastener family (DIN 923 Slotted Pan Head Screws) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
  • Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
  • Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
  • Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.

Sample & supply

Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.

Storage & shipping

Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions

The b column prints a single minimum — how do I read thread length from it?

The collected table states b as a minimum, meaning the thread must reach at least that length from the bearing face; the actual grip length is then chosen per assembly from the standard’s length ladder at quotation. The reading rule for drawings: your total clamped stack (head seat to thread start) must be no longer than the screw’s shank, and the material left to be threaded must be within b — at M4 that is at least 6 mm of thread. If your clamped plate is thicker than the shank of any listed length, the thread starts inside the clearance hole and the joint loses its pilot and shear face; the fix is the next length up or, on thicker stacks, the shanked DIN 427 which exists precisely for that split. State both the length and the grip split explicitly when quoting a shanked or partial-thread requirement.

What is the MOQ and lead time for these screws?

Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces per item. Stocked sizes ship in 3–7 days; non-stock diameters, lengths or finishes are quoted with a confirmed schedule. Common sizes in this designation are widely stocked — confirm the exact schedule against quantity and size mix at quotation.
