Specifications

The Torx drive is standardized by socket number, and the collected chart gives the two controlling dimensions per number from 6 to 100: A, the across-corners size of the hexalobular socket, and B the related basic dimension — 6: A 1,75 / B 1,27; 20: 3,95/2,85; 45: 7,93/5,64; 100: 22,4/16. The second table is the fallaway allowance f by socket number (0,31 at T6 to 2,03 at T100) — the clearance built into the system that lets the driver seat fully before camming out; it is the reason a Torx joint tolerates driver misalignment better than a hex socket. Values print with decimal commas (1,75; 22,4) — the source's notation, carried verbatim. Two tables, same numbers in different layouts (list and transposed), so a gauge can be checked either way. This is drive-system geometry: it applies wherever the socket number appears — machine screws, self-tapping screws, nuts — and pairs with the drive-bit standards rather than any single screw standard.

Materials

  • Drive geometry is material-independent, but drive size is a torque decision: the socket number must carry the installation torque with the drive bit, and the fallaway allowance only works when the bit is in spec. Pair the socket number with a torque-controlled driver, and specify drive type on drawings by socket number (T20, T30) — not by measured across-flats, which no two fastener standards label identically

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

Quotation

  • The fastener family (Torx (Hexalobular) Head Fastener Basic Dimensions) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
  • Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
  • Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
  • Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.

Sample & supply

Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.

Storage & shipping

Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions

What is the "fallaway allowance" and why does it have its own table?

It is the engineered clearance between a fully seated driver and the socket — the amount the lobes can fall away from full flank contact before the drive loses grip. Torx cam-out resistance comes from drive geometry being nearly radial; the fallaway allowance f defines how much of that geometry is consumable clearance, and it scales with socket size (0,31 at T6 to 2,03 at T100, decimal commas as printed). The reason it gets its own table is gauging: wear or off-spec bits eat into the allowance first, so a gauge check against f catches a worn driver before it starts rounding sockets. Practically: it is not a dimension you machine to — it is the tolerance budget the drive system lives inside. If a Torx joint is showing socket wear at assembly torque, the fallaway column is where to look before blaming the screw.

The chart prints decimal commas (1,75; 22,4) — which units and which dimension is which?

Millimeters, with the source's decimal-comma notation carried verbatim — 1,75 is 1.75 mm. Dimension A is the across-corners basic size of the hexalobular socket (the dimension a socket gauge works to), and B is the companion basic dimension of the drive form; both scale with socket number on a fixed ladder, which is why checking any two points identifies the number: A 7,93 puts you at T45, not T40 (6,75) or T50 (8,95). The two tables are the same data in list and transposed layouts — the transposed one exists for gauge rows. One caution from the source's notation: a comma read as a decimal point in an English-locale tool silently multiplies by a hundred (1,75 → 175), so keep the conversion explicit when moving these values into CAD or inspection sheets.
