Plymetal TEK with Wings Self-Drilling Screws (Winged Board-to-Metal)

Winged Plymetal TEK self-drilling screws as printed by the collected special-purpose table: No. 10 diameter, drilling window .089" min to .175" max, for drywall to metal or wood — the wings ream the board layer so the threads clamp it without spoiling the face.

Specifications

The winged variant of the Plymetal class adds cutting wings above the drill point. The wings ream a clearance hole through the board layer (drywall in the collected pairing) so that once the point bites the metal below, the screw's threads grip only the metal and pull the board tight against it — without the wings, the same threads would chew the board face as the screw draws down. That is also why the collected table prints a minimum for this class, .089" min to .175" max: the wings cut off on contact with the metal, and below the minimum there is not enough metal left for the point to drill and the thread to engage reliably. The pairing is printed as drywall to metal or wood — the wing and point do the board work, and the engagement happens in the base layer. The collected table prints no drill-point length for this class; point geometry is confirmed against the panel system at quotation.

Point class Plymetal Teks with Wings — special-purpose class, label as printed by the collected table
Screw sizes (tabulated) No. 10
Material window .089" min to .175" max — the only winged class in the collected table with a printed minimum
Application pairing Drywall to metal or wood — pairing printed by the collected table
Wing function Cutting wings ream the board layer so threads grip the substrate only and clamp the board without face spoilage; wings shear off on contact with metal
Drill-point length Not printed for this class — confirmed at quotation
Materials Case-hardened carbon steel with corrosion-resistant plating is the standard construction for inch TEK self-drillers; stainless (410) and other finishes confirmed at quotation
Plymetal Teks with Wings - special-purpose class (as printed)Window = recommended material thickness, cold-rolled steel sheet; the printed minimum is the winged class' cut-off floor. Drill-point length not printed by the source for this class.

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

Quotation

  • The fastener family (Plymetal TEK with Wings Self-Drilling Screws (Winged Board-to-Metal)) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
  • Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
  • Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
  • Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.

Sample & supply

Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.

Storage & shipping

Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions

Why does this class have a minimum thickness when the plain Plymetal does not?

The wings, not the window, set the floor. On the plain Plymetal the whole stack thickness is drilled metal, so the table only bounds the top. On the with-wings variant the wings strip out the board and shear off against the metal; below the printed .089" the remaining metal cannot give the point and threads enough work to clamp reliably. Respect the floor in the other direction too — a stack topping out past .175" exceeds the window and belongs to a heavier point class from the gauge-series ladder. State both the board thickness and the measured metal thickness on the RFQ so the window is confirmed, not assumed.

What is the MOQ and lead time for these self-drilling screws?

Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces per item. Stocked sizes ship in 3–7 days; non-stock diameters, lengths or finishes are quoted with a confirmed schedule. Confirm the exact schedule against quantity and size mix at quotation.

What should an RFQ for these special-purpose TEK screws state?

State the point class (Stitch, Plymetal, Plymetal with Wings, Drywall or Gypsum TEK), the screw diameter from the class table, the base material it drills into and the total thickness or gauge of the stack, head form and drive, length, finish (for example zinc plated or 410 stainless), required certificates such as a mill test report per EN 10204 3.1, and quantity per size — plus destination country.
