DIN / ISO / EN Crossover Chart
Ninety-four-row map from withdrawn DIN fastener standards to their replacement DIN EN ISO, DIN EN, DIN ISO or comparable ISO standards — with the current edition date, the replacement standard's title, and a change comment per row — for resolving legacy DIN callouts on drawings to the standards actually in force.
Last updated: 2026-11
Specifications
European fastener drawings carry two generations of callouts: legacy DIN numbers that no longer exist as maintained standards, and the DIN EN ISO, DIN EN or DIN ISO documents that replaced them — often with real dimensional changes between the generations. This chart is the crossover map: 94 rows, each taking a withdrawn DIN standard (with its title, e.g. all-metal prevailing torque type hexagon nuts 980, clevis pins with head 1434/1435/1436, T-head bolts, wing nuts, eye bolts, washers, thread inserts) and giving the replacement under DIN EN ISO, DIN EN or DIN ISO, the comparable ISO number, the date of the current standard, the replacement's title, and — the column that saves arguments — a change comment: 'height of nut changed; width across flat according to ISO 272 included', 'only one head dimension, some other nominal lengths defined', 'property classes added', and so on. Use it the way a drawing office does: find the legacy DIN number called on the old drawing, read across to the standard in force, and check the comment column before declaring equivalence — where the comment names a dimensional or property-class change, parts made to the old DIN are not automatically compliant to the replacement, and a substitution decision belongs with the drawing owner. Standards not listed here are quoted per RFQ against their current editions.
| Coverage | 94 mapping rows: withdrawn DIN standards → DIN EN ISO / DIN EN / DIN ISO / comparable ISO replacements, spanning nuts (prevailing torque, slotted, wing), bolts and screws (T-heads, eye bolts, wing screws), pins (clevis, split), washers, thread inserts and related hardware |
|---|---|
| Columns | Title of DIN standard; DIN; DIN EN ISO; DIN EN; DIN ISO; comparable ISO standard; date of current standard/modified; title of replacement standard; change comment — blank cells where no direct replacement exists in that family, as printed |
| How to read the comment column | Comments name real deltas (nut height changed with width across flats per ISO 272; head dimensions consolidated; property classes or nominal lengths redefined) — a legacy DIN part is not automatically interchangeable with the replacement standard's part where a delta is named |
| Not tabulated | Dimensional detail of either generation, tolerance classes, withdrawal dates of the DIN standards — read from the standards themselves, quoted per RFQ |

Materials
- A standard number is not a material specification: when a legacy DIN callout is crossed over to its ISO replacement, carry the material/property-class requirement across explicitly and re-confirm it — several of the chart's own comments note property-class changes between generations. We quote against the current standard edition with the class and certificate stated on the RFQ
Ordering & documentation
Documents
Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

- Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
- Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
- Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.
Sample & supply
Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.
Storage & shipping
Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.
Frequently asked questions
Our old drawing calls DIN 980 nuts. Can we just buy ISO replacement parts marked with the new number?
Mostly yes, with one check this chart exists to force. The chart's DIN 980 row maps to DIN EN ISO 7042 and 10513 (styles 1 and 2), and its comment column names the delta: 'height of nut changed; width across flat according to ISO 272 included'. So the function is preserved — an all-metal prevailing torque type hexagon nut — but the height and width across flats moved between generations, and if the old drawing's nut space was dimensioned around the DIN 980 height, the replacement may not fit the same envelope. The workflow: read the row, take the comment seriously, and compare the two editions' dimensions for your size before ordering; where the envelope matters, the drawing owner updates the callout to the current standard and we quote against it. What you should not do is treat the crossover as a rename — the comment column is precisely the list of places where it is not.
A row's DIN EN ISO and DIN EN columns are both blank but the DIN ISO column has a number — what does that mean?
It reflects how the standardization actually went for that hardware family: most fastener standards were reissued as joint European-international documents (DIN EN ISO), but some families were adopted internationally without the European envelope — those appear as DIN ISO — and a few legacy DIN standards have no ISO-generation replacement at all, leaving the replacement columns blank with the comparable ISO column as the closest relative. The chart carries those blank patterns exactly as printed, because they are information: a blank DIN EN ISO column tells you not to expect a harmonized document and to check whether the national-market requirement your drawing serves still accepts the ISO counterpart. Where a row shows no replacement anywhere in the ISO columns, the legacy DIN may still be the only formal specification — that is a per-case quotation against the drawing, and we confirm the currently applicable edition at RFQ rather than assume from this table.
