TEKS/3 Self-Drilling Screws (Medium Gauge Metals Point Class)
Inch TEK self-drilling screws, TEKS/3 point class as tabulated for medium gauge metals: screw sizes No. 8 to 1/4" drilling .100"–.250" depending on diameter, with drill-point lengths .203"–.312". The standard class for framing-weight sheet steel.

Specifications
TEKS/3 is the workhorse point class of the inch TEK ladder — the class for medium gauge metals once the stack leaves the thin-sheet windows of TEKS/2. The collected selection table tabulates four sizes: No. 8 drilling .100–.140", No. 10 .110–.175", No. 12 .110–.210" and 1/4" the heaviest window of the class at .110–.250". Drill-point lengths step up accordingly, .203" at No. 8 to .312" at 1/4", because the flute must clear the thicker cut before the thread takes hold. Overlapping windows are deliberate: the same stack often sits inside two neighbouring classes (a .120" total is TEKS/3 at No. 8 and still inside the TEKS/2 1/4" window), and the choice then follows the screw diameter the joint needs, not the point number alone. Beyond .250" the ladder hands over to the heavier classes — see TEKS/4 and the Special TEKS/2 variant pages. The collected table carries no head-form, thread-pitch or length columns; those are fixed at quotation with the panel system.

Ordering & documentation
Documents
Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.
Quotation
- The fastener family (TEKS/3 Self-Drilling Screws (Medium Gauge Metals Point Class)) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
- Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
- Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
- Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.
Sample & supply
Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.
Storage & shipping
Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.
Frequently asked questions
Why choose TEKS/3 over the other TEK point numbers?
By total steel thickness. The collected selection table assigns the middle of the ladder: No. 8 drills .100–.140", No. 10 .110–.175", No. 12 .110–.210" and 1/4" .110–.250": the point must pierce the whole stack in one operation, so a point class below the total thickness stalls or snaps its tip, and a class far above it leaves an unnecessarily long drill flute that wastes engagement. Match the printed material-thickness range for your screw diameter to the measured stack, and step up to the next TEK number when the stack exceeds it. State the total thickness on the RFQ so the point class is confirmed against the ladder rather than assumed.
My stack sits in both a TEKS/2 and a TEKS/3 window — which one?
Fix the screw diameter first, then the point. The windows overlap across classes: a .120" total, for example, is inside the No. 10 TEKS/3 window (.110–.175") and also inside the 1/4" TEKS/2 window (.035–.175"). If the joint calls for a No. 10, take the TEKS/3 point; if it genuinely needs a 1/4" screw, the TEKS/2 point covers the same stack with the larger diameter. What never works is keeping a small diameter and stretching its window — a No. 8 TEKS/2 stops at .100".
What is the MOQ and lead time for these self-drilling screws?
Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces per item. Stocked sizes ship in 3–7 days; non-stock diameters, lengths or finishes are quoted with a confirmed schedule. Confirm the exact schedule against quantity and size mix at quotation.
What should an RFQ for inch TEK screws state?
State the screw gauge (No. 6, No. 8, No. 10, No. 12, 1/4"), the TEK point number required for the total metal thickness being drilled, head form and drive, length, finish (for example zinc plated or 410 stainless), required certificates such as a mill test report per EN 10204 3.1, and quantity per size — plus destination country.
