Type PT-Alternative Pan TORX Thread Forming Screws
Type PT-alternative thread forming screws for thermoplastics with a pan six-lobe (TORX) drive: the spaced 30° forming thread from M1.6 to M5 with TORX sizes T6 to T20. Higher torque transfer than Phillips for repeated assembly cycles and torque-controlled stations.

Specifications
This is the PT-alternative thermoplastic forming thread with a six-lobe (TORX) recess instead of Phillips. The plastic-facing behaviour is identical — spaced 30° thread, reduced core between rows, blunt point, chipless forming in thermoplastics — while the drive side gains the six-lobe advantages: more torque before cam-out and less bit wear over long production runs, which is why torque-controlled plastic assembly stations specify it. The collected spec sheet tables M1.6 to M5 with head, recess and drive size per step; drive sizes run T6 on the small ends to T20 at M4–M5. Materials per the sheet: case-hardened C1022 steel through M3, through-hardened from M3.5, with an A2 stainless option. Type PT is a registered EJOT trademark; the sheets and this page describe the PT-alternative design.

Ordering & documentation
Documents
Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.
Quotation
- The fastener family (Type PT-Alternative Pan TORX Thread Forming Screws) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
- Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
- Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
- Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.
Sample & supply
Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.
Storage & shipping
Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.
Frequently asked questions
TORX or Phillips on the PT-alternative pan head?
The forming behaviour is the same — both share the spaced 30° thermoplastic thread — so the choice is a drive-side decision. The six-lobe recess takes more installation torque before cam-out and survives high-cycle torque-controlled stations with less bit wear; Phillips stays compatible with generic cross-recess tooling. The collected tables show the same M1.6–M5 span on both, so qualify whichever matches the assembly station.
Do I size the boss the same as for the Phillips version?
The thread behaviour is the same family profile, but the two collected tables are not identical step for step: M3 agrees (external 3.14/3.00 mm, core ref 1.66 mm), while the TORX table lists M5 at 5.18/5.00 mm where the Phillips table prints 5.00/4.82 mm, and the TORX series steps M2 where the Phillips series steps M2.2. Treat the two as distinct part configurations: size the boss from the table of the specific version you order, and confirm pull-out on the actual resin, since guideline hole values for plastic-forming threads are resin and temperature dependent.
What is the MOQ and lead time for these thread forming screws?
Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces per item. Stocked sizes ship in 3–7 days; non-stock diameters, lengths or finishes are quoted with a confirmed schedule. Confirm the exact schedule against quantity and size mix at quotation.
What should an RFQ for these thread forming screws state?
State the standard designation (for example DIN 7500 CE or DIN 7500 ME), the head form and drive, thread size and pitch, length, material and grade (case-hardened steel or A2/A4 stainless), finish, pilot-hole or sheet thickness if you need a hole-size recommendation, required certificates such as a mill test report per EN 10204 3.1, and quantity per size — plus destination country.
