ISO 14579 Hexalobular Pan Head Screws
ISO 14579 hexalobular socket pan head screws — M2 to M20, the torque-transmitting six-lobe drive in a full pan head, with the collected geometry rows, ls/lg thread-length ladder and carbon-steel weight table.
Last updated: 2026-11
Specifications
ISO 14579 pairs the hexalobular (six-lobe, "Torx-class") drive with a conventional full pan head: the head geometry of a cheese-head screw with a drive that resists cam-out and carries far more installation torque than a slot or a Phillips of the same size. The collected data covers M2 through M20 across three source tables — head and drive geometry per thread (including the drive size row the source labels "inner hexabulator", sizes 6 at M2 up to 90 at M20), a per-length ls/lg ladder splitting each screw into unthreaded shank and grip portions (fully threaded lengths print "+" in the source), and an approximate carbon-steel weight ladder. Order the drive by the size column: an A-female bit of the tabulated size is what seats without reaming the socket. The torque advantage over the ISO 1580 slotted pan head on the very same head outline is the reason assembly lines spec this series; the collected tables carry geometry only, so property class (the standard is typically 8.8-class capable) and finish go per RFQ. Flagged verbatim quirks in the table include the source's drive-row wording, a stray M2 ls/lg print at l = 20, and two weight-ladder cells that break their column's progression.

- Row 15 (50): l = 50, M10: the source prints 30,3 against the M10 ladder's surrounding progression (36,1 at 45 / 42,5 at 55). Carried verbatim, not normalized.
- Row 14 (45): l = 45, M18: the source prints 128 against the ladder's progression (120 at 40 / 129 at 40? see l = 40 M18 129 and l = 50 M18 147). Carried verbatim, not normalized.
Materials
- Property class and finish specified per RFQ — hexalobular pan heads are commonly 4.8–8.8 steel with zinc or black finish; state the tightening method and exposure at quotation
Ordering & documentation
Documents
Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.
Quotation
- The fastener family (ISO 14579 Hexalobular Pan Head Screws) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
- Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
- Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
- Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.
Sample & supply
Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.
Storage & shipping
Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.
Frequently asked questions
Hexalobular pan head (ISO 14579) or the six-lobe button head — which head do I pick?
Head height and drive depth. The pan head here is a taller, straight-sided head — k runs 5 mm at M5 up to 20 mm at M20 in the collected ladder — so it carries a deeper hexalobular socket (t max 2,03 mm at M5) and tolerates more installation torque than the shallow button head of ISO 7380-1, whose k is roughly half that and whose drive depth follows. Use the button head where the head must sit low and proud edges are unacceptable; use ISO 14579 where the joint needs the torque and the head height does not interfere. The comparison page for six-lobe versus other drives lives on the screws family; and since neither collected table names property class, quote the class (and the torque spec that goes with it) per RFQ — the class is what makes the torque advantage real.
