TEKS/4 Self-Drilling Screws (Heavier Gauge Metals Point Class)

Inch TEK self-drilling screws, TEKS/4 point class as tabulated for heavier gauge metals: No. 12 and 1/4" sizes drilling .175"–.250", with the longer .281"/.312" drill points. The stepped-up class where medium-gauge windows end.

Specifications

TEKS/4 is the heavier-gauge step of the inch TEK ladder, and the collected selection table tabulates it in exactly two sizes: No. 12, drilling .175–.210", and 1/4", drilling .175–.250". Both carry the .281"/.312" point lengths of the class above — the longer flute the thicker cut demands. The class exists because the TEKS/3 windows stop at .210" (No. 12) and .250" (1/4") at their tops: once the stack is above those figures at those diameters, the point class steps up rather than forcing the shorter flute. The class is narrow by design — heavier still, and the special long-point variant takes over (see the Special TEKS/2 page for the .210–.375" windows). The collected table carries no head-form, thread-pitch or length columns; those are fixed at quotation with the panel system.

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

Quotation

  • The fastener family (TEKS/4 Self-Drilling Screws (Heavier Gauge Metals Point Class)) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
  • Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
  • Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
  • Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.

Sample & supply

Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.

Storage & shipping

Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions

Why choose TEKS/4 over the other TEK point numbers?

By total steel thickness. The collected selection table assigns its heavier-gauge windows: No. 12 drills .175–.210" and 1/4" drills .175–.250" — the band where the TEKS/3 windows close: the point must pierce the whole stack in one operation, so a point class below the total thickness stalls or snaps its tip, and a class far above it leaves an unnecessarily long drill flute that wastes engagement. Match the printed material-thickness range for your screw diameter to the measured stack, and step up to the next TEK number when the stack exceeds it. State the total thickness on the RFQ so the point class is confirmed against the ladder rather than assumed.

TEKS/4 or the Special TEKS/2 — both cover No. 12 above .175"?

By where the stack tops out. The collected table gives the TEKS/4 No. 12 a .175–.210" window and the Special TEKS/2 No. 12 a .210–.345" window: they meet at .210". A .190" total is a TEKS/4 job; a .250" total is already outside the TEKS/4 window and belongs to the special long-point class. The same handover runs at 1/4" between .250" and .375". Measure the thickest point of the actual stack before ordering — the classes are narrow and adjacent, not interchangeable.

What is the MOQ and lead time for these self-drilling screws?

Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces per item. Stocked sizes ship in 3–7 days; non-stock diameters, lengths or finishes are quoted with a confirmed schedule. Confirm the exact schedule against quantity and size mix at quotation.

What should an RFQ for inch TEK screws state?

State the screw gauge (No. 6, No. 8, No. 10, No. 12, 1/4"), the TEK point number required for the total metal thickness being drilled, head form and drive, length, finish (for example zinc plated or 410 stainless), required certificates such as a mill test report per EN 10204 3.1, and quantity per size — plus destination country.
