ISO 7049 Cross Recessed Pan Head Tapping Screws (Types H and Z, Form C)
ISO 7049 pan head tapping screws with cross recess H and Z, Form C — ST2,2 to ST6,3 — the power-tool sheet-metal screw, with the collected recess sizing (No. 1/2/3), Type H/Z depth-gauge and penetration ladders.
Last updated: 2026-11
Specifications
ISO 7049 is the pan head built for the driver gun: a cross recess (types H and Z, with the recess number — 1, 2 or 3 — printed per size in the collected table) instead of a slot, so the screw takes power-tool torque without camming out. Form C in the designation marks the tapping point form the y rows belong to. The collected ladder runs ST2,2 to ST6,3 with the pan geometry (dk nominal=max./min. 4,2/3,9 up to 12,5/12,07; k nominal=max./min.; radius r and pan radius rf), the cross-recess No. ladder (1 at the small sizes through 3 at ST5,5/ST6,3), and — the rows that make this standard distinct — the Type H and Type Z driving data per size: the m depth-gauge (approx.) and the source's "Penetration deptd" min./max. limits, which tell the assembly line how deep the driver should push before the recess is fully engaged. One verbatim ladder break is flagged: Type Z penetration min. prints 1,47 at ST3,5 against 1,58 at ST2,9 and 1,7 at (ST3,9) — carried verbatim, not normalized. Length ladder l 4,5 to 38 with the source's approximate mass columns (the source's Table 2 omits the thread-size header; the column order follows Table 1 — documented in the table note). Property class, material and finish are not tabulated — per RFQ.

Materials
- Material and finish specified per RFQ — case-hardened steel is the standard tapping body for power driving; state host sheet and any plated finish at quotation
Ordering & documentation
Documents
Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.
Quotation
- The fastener family (ISO 7049 Cross Recessed Pan Head Tapping Screws (Types H and Z, Form C)) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
- Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
- Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
- Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.
Sample & supply
Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.
Storage & shipping
Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.
Frequently asked questions
Cross recess Type H or Type Z — does the recess letter change the screw I buy?
The screw carries both rows; the driver decides. The collected table gives every size both the Type H and Type Z recess data — m gauge and penetration limits — because the standard permits both recess forms on the same head, and the geometry that differs is how the driver tip engages: Type H bites harder (higher penetration limits across the board — e.g. max. 3,66 vs 3,48 at ST6,3) for torque transfer in hard sheet, while Type Z’s shallower engagement reduces cam-out wear in soft material and high-speed driving. What you actually order is the recess number (No. 1/2/3 per size) matched to the right driver — a No. 2 tip on a No. 3 recess spins in the larger cross. The penetration rows are assembly-line setup data, not purchase data, and one of them (Type Z min. at ST3,5: 1,47) breaks the ladder — flagged verbatim, confirm per RFQ if your drive-depth programming keys off it. Material, class and finish stay per RFQ.
