ISO 4027 Cone Point Hex Socket Set Screws
ISO 4027 hex socket set screws with cone point, M1.6 to M24 — the deep-engagement set screw whose point seats in a drilled hole — with the full collected 13-size table: pitch, cone point diameter, hex socket geometry and short/long screw key engagement.

Specifications
Where the other set-screw points rest against a surface, the cone point of ISO 4027 goes into one: a full cone machined on the end of the screw seats in a corresponding drilled spot or the end of a shaft center hole, locating the clamped part axially as well as radially. That positive engagement is why cone points appear on collars, indexable stops and change gears — anywhere the screw may be loosened and must find its original position again without re-alignment. The collected table spans the full series M1.6 to M24: pitch P, cone point diameter d t max, socket across-corners e min, key width s (nominal/max/min), and key engagement t min printed twice by the source — for short screws and for long screws, because shallow screws cannot reach the standard engagement depth. The cone is the most aggressive point against the mating surface, so it is normally paired with a hardened or pre-drilled seat; for flat seating see ISO 4026 and for dog-point positive lock see ISO 4028 on this site.

- Row 1 (M3): M3-M5 cone point diameters print 0.3 / 0.4 / 0.5 where the ISO 4027 dt maxima are 0.75 / 1.0 / 1.25; a second published chart prints these small sizes SHARP, agreeing that the guide cones are not truncated to the ISO diameters — carried as printed.
- Row 4 (M6): the M6 cone point diameter prints 1.5 where the second published chart prints 1.0 (the ISO 4027 dt max is 1.5) — carried as printed, not normalized.
- Row 6 (M10): the M10 cone point diameter prints 2.5 where the second published chart prints 2.0 (the ISO 4027 dt max is 2.5) — carried as printed, not normalized.
- Row 7 (M12): the M12 cone point diameter prints 3.0 where the second published chart prints 2.0 (the ISO 4027 dt max is 3.0) — carried as printed, not normalized.

Ordering & documentation
Documents
Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.
Quotation
- The fastener family (ISO 4027 Cone Point Hex Socket Set Screws) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
- Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
- Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
- Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.
Sample & supply
Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.
Storage & shipping
Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.
Frequently asked questions
Does a cone point set screw need a prepared seat?
Yes, in duty worth doing right. The full cone will bite an unprepared surface on first tightening, but the bite is uncontrolled — the point sits wherever it lands and work-hardens a random ring into a soft shaft. On hardened shafts a cone point without a drilled spot simply cannot penetrate, and the screw bottoms out on its own cone. A small center-drilled seat turns the cone into a positive, repeatable location — which is the whole reason to choose this point style.
What should an RFQ for ISO 4027 set screws state?
The designation (ISO 4027), thread size, length, material and property class or stainless grade, finish, and quantity per size. Note the two key-engagement rows in the table — short and long screws differ — so the length called out determines the applicable t value; commercial terms follow the quotation.
What is the MOQ and lead time for these screws?
Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces per item. Stocked sizes ship in 3–7 days; non-stock diameters, lengths or finishes are quoted with a confirmed schedule. Common sizes in this designation are widely stocked — confirm the exact schedule against quantity and size mix at quotation.
