DIN 464 Knurled Thumb Screws
DIN 464 thumb screws with slotted knurled cylindrical head, M1 to M10 — fingertip adjustment with a slot for a driver — with the full collected 12-size table: knurled head geometry, slot limits, thread lengths and knurl pitch.
Last updated: 2026-11
Specifications
DIN 464 is the knurled thumb screw: a cylindrical head whose outside diameter is rolled with a straight knurl so the screw can be driven by fingertips alone, while the slot on top still accepts a blade for final tightening or for powered assembly. The knurl converts finger pressure into torque without any tool, which is what makes this the standard head for panels, access covers, jigs and instruments that are opened and closed in service. The collected table runs M1 to M10 and tabulates the full head system per size: the knurled head diameter d k with its nominal and limit band, the head height h, the cylindrical shank-relevant d s limits, the slot width n and depth t, the thread length b, and the knurl pitch itself — 0.5 mm on the small sizes stepping to 0.8 mm at M10 — because the knurl pitch is a specified feature, not a rolling accident. Where more head height is wanted for a better finger grip, the low-type counterpart is DIN 653 on this site. Materials, property classes and finishes are not printed by the collected specification and follow the drawing callout.

Ordering & documentation
Documents
Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.
Quotation
- The fastener family (DIN 464 Knurled Thumb Screws) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
- Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
- Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
- Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.
Sample & supply
Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.
Storage & shipping
Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the knurl pitch have its own column in the table?
Because the knurl is functional geometry, not decoration: the pitch — 0.5 mm up to M2.5, 0.6 mm through most of the range, 0.8 mm at M10 — sets how many ridges the fingertips engage and therefore how much grip the head delivers for its diameter. A finer pitch on a small head gives more contact edges for the same circumference; a coarser pitch on large heads resists clogging with debris. If a drawing omits the knurl callout, the pitch is what a substitute supplier is most likely to get wrong while looking dimensionally identical — so specify it alongside d k and h when quoting, and confirm replacements against all three, not just the head diameter.
What is the MOQ and lead time for these screws?
Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces per item. Stocked sizes ship in 3–7 days; non-stock diameters, lengths or finishes are quoted with a confirmed schedule. Common sizes in this designation are widely stocked — confirm the exact schedule against quantity and size mix at quotation.
