IS 1364 Part 2 Hexagon Head Screws (M1.6-M64)
IS 1364-2002 part 2 hexagon head screws, M1.6 to M64: pitch, runout, head shear, bearing face, across flats and corners, head height and fillet ladders — the Indian standard metric hex screw identity.
Last updated: 2026-11
Specifications
IS 1364 is the Indian standard for hexagon head screws and bolts, technically aligned with the ISO 4014-family, and the collected part 2 table runs the wide range M1.6 to M64 across two size segments (M1.6-M20 and M22-M64, non-preferred sizes parenthesized). The attribute rows follow the ISO pattern: pitch P (0.35 at M1.6 to 6 at M64), thread runout a, head shear c, bearing da/dw with grade-split rows, across-corners e max/min grade-split (3.41/3.28 at M1.6 up the ladder to the large sizes), head height k max/min, and across flats s with its tolerance ladder. Where procurement specifies Indian-standard documentation — or a Bill of Materials cites IS 1364 part 2 — this is the designation identity behind the familiar ISO-shaped part.
| Standard / scope | IS 1364-2002 part 2 hexagon head screws (size range M1.6-M64) — two size segments, non-preferred sizes parenthesized as printed |
|---|---|
| Pitch P | 0.35 (M1.6), 0.4, 0.45, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, 0.8, 1.0, 1.25, 1.5, 1.75, 2.0, 2.0, 2.5, 2.5 across the first segment; coarser to 6 at M64 |
| Width across corners e | Grade A max 3.41 (M1.6), grade-B rows behind (3.28...) — max/min grade-split ladders as printed |
| Head height k | 1.1 (M1.6) max to 12.5-class at M20 first segment, continuing to the large sizes; min rows behind |
| Width across flats s | Nominal ladder from the M1.6 size upward with max/min tolerance rows as printed |
| Not tabulated | Property classes (IS 1364 part 3 territory), lengths, finishes — per RFQ |
Materials
- IS-standard hardware is the domestic default across Indian industry and interchangeable with ISO 4014-family parts at the common sizes — but certificates differ: an order citing IS 1364 gets Indian-standard test paperwork, and contracts sometimes require exactly that. Supply is 4.6-10.9 property classes, zinc/black/hot-dip finishes. Where drawings are ISO but supply is Indian, name both ("ISO 4017 equivalent, IS 1364-2 cited") on the RFQ so the certificate matches the acceptance basis
Ordering & documentation
Documents
Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.
Quotation
- The fastener family (IS 1364 Part 2 Hexagon Head Screws (M1.6-M64)) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
- Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
- Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
- Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.
Sample & supply
Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.
Storage & shipping
Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.
Frequently asked questions
Is an IS 1364 part 2 screw interchangeable with ISO 4014-family hardware?
At the common sizes, geometrically yes — the standard is ISO-aligned and the tables here read like the ISO ladders (the same pitch per diameter, the same across-flats architecture). The differences that matter commercially are documentation and edition detail: IS 1364 carries its own part structure (part 2 being screws), its own tolerance editions and its own certificate chain. So the parts interchange on the bench, but an order that must satisfy an IS-cited contract should ship against IS paperwork, and vice versa — name the standard you are buying to and let the RFQ carry it.
What do the grade-split rows on e and dw mean here?
As in the ISO family, product grade A (tight, for headed-with-turning or ground supply) and grade B (general, for cold-formed heads) carry separate min/max bands on the across-corners and bearing-face rows — the table prints them as stacked grade-labelled rows. Grade A matters where the wrench fit must be exact (jigged assembly, torque-critical tooling); grade B is the volume supply. The property class stamped on the head is a separate axis entirely — quote product grade, property class and standard together when tolerance matters.
