DIN 553 Slotted Grub Screws with Cone Point
DIN 553 grub (headless) set screws with slotted drive and cone point, M1 to M12 — the sharp tapered point that centres itself in a drilled dimple for maximum rotation lock — with the full collected 10-size table: cone diameter, slot and slot depth limits.

Specifications
DIN 553 is the cone-point end of the slotted grub screw family: the point tapers to a defined cone-tip diameter d 1 — far smaller than a flat point — so the entire seating torque converges on a tiny circle that can be driven into a centre-drilled dimple. The cone centres itself in the dimple, which is what makes this the positive-location point form: the screw cannot skid sideways under vibration the way a flat or cup point can, and the resulting joint holds against rotation with the least screw diameter for the job. It is the standard choice for permanent or semi-permanent location on pulleys, gears and index stops — and, used without a dimple, it will deliberately pit a soft shaft, which is exactly the behaviour some safety and tamper-evident applications want. The collected table runs M1 to M12 and tabulates per size: the cone-tip diameter d 1 max (the dimension the dimple drill must match), the slot width n as Nominal with min/max limits, the slot depth t (min=nominal / max) and the pitch P. Materials, property classes and finishes are not printed by the collected specification and follow the drawing callout.

Ordering & documentation
Documents
Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.
Quotation
- The fastener family (DIN 553 Slotted Grub Screws with Cone Point) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
- Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
- Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
- Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.
Sample & supply
Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.
Storage & shipping
Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.
Frequently asked questions
Does a cone point need a centre-drilled dimple, and how do I size it?
Not strictly — the cone will bite into a soft shaft on its own — but the joint is designed around the dimple, and the d 1 column is what sizes it: the cone tip is a defined diameter (0.3 mm max at M3, 1.5 mm at M6, 3 mm at M12) that seats in a matching centre drill, so the torque converts into wall contact around the cone rather than a single dug-in edge. Without a dimple on a hardened shaft the cone can slide or the tip can deform, and the set screw loses the very self-centring that makes it worth choosing over a cup point. Specify DIN 553 where location must survive vibration, pair it with a centre drill sized to the d 1 column, and state the point form on the drawing so the mating dimple is not value-engineered away.
What is the MOQ and lead time for these screws?
Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces per item. Stocked sizes ship in 3–7 days; non-stock diameters, lengths or finishes are quoted with a confirmed schedule. Common sizes in this designation are widely stocked — confirm the exact schedule against quantity and size mix at quotation.
