DIN 916 Socket Set Screws (Cup Point)
Hexagon socket set screws with cup point per DIN 916 — current norm DIN EN ISO 4029 — M1.4 to M24 in 45H steel or A2/A4 stainless, thread 6g. The highest-grip grub screw for locking against torque and rotation.

Specifications
The cup-point set screw is the set-screw family's bite: a headless grub screw whose cupped tip digs a shallow ring into the mating surface, giving the strongest hold of the standard points against torque and rotation reversal. The collected standard table runs M1.4 through M24 in 45H steel (the set-screw hardness class) or A2/A4 stainless, thread tolerance 6g. At M6 the cup measures 3 mm across its mouth with a 3 mm hex socket and a 2 mm minimum key engagement; the collected table also lists the e (corner) minimum of 3.44 mm that keeps the socket wrench from rounding. DIN 916's current norm is DIN EN ISO 4029. Compared with the flat point (DIN 913), the cup point trades a surface mark for holding power — it is the choice when the shaft is not hardened and the joint must not slip; on hardened shafts or finished surfaces, step down to a flat or cone point with a machined seat.

- Row 3 (M2.5): the M2.5 plain cup point diameter prints 1.25 where the ISO 4029 dz maximum is 1.2 — carried as printed, not normalized.
- Row 4 (M3): the M3 plain cup point diameter prints 1.50 where the ISO 4029 dz maximum is 1.4 (the knurled value 1.40 agrees) — carried as printed, not normalized.
- Row 5 (M4): the M4 knurled cup point diameter prints 2.10 where the ISO 4029 dz maximum is 2.0 (the plain value 2.00 agrees) — carried as printed, not normalized.
- Row 7 (M6): the M6 knurled cup point diameter prints 3.30 where the ISO 4029 dz maximum is 3.0 (the plain value 3.00 agrees), and the knurled preferred length runs 5.0 against plain 4.0 — carried as printed.

Ordering & documentation
Documents
Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.
Quotation
- The fastener family (DIN 916 Socket Set Screws (Cup Point)) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
- Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
- Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
- Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.
Sample & supply
Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.
Storage & shipping
Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.
Frequently asked questions
Cup point or flat point — which set screw should I use?
Decide by what the tip is allowed to do to the mating surface. The cup point (DIN 916) bites a shallow ring into the shaft and holds hardest against torque and reversal — the default for locking hubs, collars and gears on unhardened shafts. The flat point (DIN 913) spreads its clamp over a small flat ring face and leaves the surface nearly untouched — the choice for hardened shafts, adjusted positions or parts that are repositioned in service. Both run in the same 45H steel or A2/A4 stainless makings over the same M1.4–M24 thread range, so the point style, not the strength class, is the selection decision.
What is the MOQ and lead time for these screws?
Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces per item. Stocked sizes ship in 3–7 days; non-stock diameters, lengths or finishes are quoted with a confirmed schedule. Common sizes in this designation are widely stocked — confirm the exact schedule against quantity and size mix at quotation.
What should an RFQ for these screws state?
State the standard designation (for example DIN 7991, DIN 916 or DIN 7985 — or the ISO designation your drawing prints), thread size and pitch, length or head dimension, strength class or material (such as 12.9, 45H, 4.8, A2-70, A4-80 or brass), finish (black oxide, zinc plated, or plain), required certificates such as a mill test report per EN 10204 3.1, and quantity per size — plus destination country.
