Specifications

DIN 653 keeps the knurled cylindrical head of DIN 464 and cuts its height roughly in half: the same fingertip-gripping knurl on a low-profile head for places where a full thumb screw would stand proud of the surface, catch passing parts or need clearance the assembly does not have. The trade is grip height — fingers ride the knurl directly rather than wrapping a taller head — so the low type is the choice where adjustment is frequent but torque is modest: latch panels, covers, optical and instrument fixtures, set-and-leave presets. The collected table runs M1 to M10 and tabulates per size: the knurled head diameter d k with nominal and limit bands, the low head height k (2 mm max at M1.6 against DIN 464’s 5.3 mm nominal at the same thread), the slot width n and depth t, chamfer c, a reference length L that scales with the thread, and the knurl pitch. Where head height is not the constraint, the taller DIN 464 gives more finger purchase for the same thread. Materials, property classes and finishes are not printed by the collected specification and follow the drawing callout.

Standard DIN 653 — knurled thumb screws, low type (slotted low cylindrical head, straight knurl)
Series M1 – M10 (12 sizes tabulated)
Tabulated geometry Per size: pitch P, chamfer a max, chamfer c, knurled head diameter d k (Nominal / max / min), shank d s (max / min), hex-relevant e, head height k (max / min), fillet r, reference length L, knurl pitch
Dimensions at M3 Head d k nominal 12 (max 12.35 / min 11.65); head height k max 2.5 / min 2.25; slot n nominal 0.8; reference length L 12; knurl pitch 0.6
Dimensions at M6 Head d k nominal 24 (max 24.42 / min 23.58); head height k max 5 / min 4.7; slot n nominal 1.6; reference length L 20; knurl pitch 0.6
Head / drive form Low knurled cylindrical head — reduced height against DIN 464, same knurl principle
Materials / strength Not tabulated by the collected specification — per RFQ (property class and finish per drawing callout)

Ordering & documentation

Documents

Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.

Quotation

  • The fastener family (DIN 653 Knurled Thumb Screws, Low Type) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
  • Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
  • Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
  • Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.

Sample & supply

Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.

Storage & shipping

Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Store fasteners dry and protected until installation, and keep coated parts in their packaging until use; specific packing and preservation requirements can be stated on the order and confirmed at quotation.

Frequently asked questions

DIN 464 or DIN 653 — how does head height decide?

Compare the height columns at the same thread: at M2.5 the collected tables print a nominal head height around 6.5 mm for DIN 464 against a 2.5 mm maximum for DIN 653 — a third of the profile for the same grip diameter d k. So the decision is grip style versus clearance. DIN 464’s taller head lets fingers wrap and twist, which moves higher torque and suits frequently opened covers; DIN 653 relies on fingertip traction on the knurl alone, and buys for that a head that stays nearly flush in tight stacks, sliding covers and rotating adjustments where any protrusion would foul. Both carry the same slot for a blade, so neither gives up tool tightening — the low type simply needs the driver for the last bit of torque the fingers cannot reach.

What is the MOQ and lead time for these screws?

Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces per item. Stocked sizes ship in 3–7 days; non-stock diameters, lengths or finishes are quoted with a confirmed schedule. Common sizes in this designation are widely stocked — confirm the exact schedule against quantity and size mix at quotation.
