DIN 417 Slotted Set Screws with Long Dog Point
DIN 417 set screws with slotted head and long dog point, M1.6 to M12 — the full-dog point that engages a groove or drills into a shaft for positive location — with the full collected 10-size table: point diameter, dog length, slot and socket depth limits.

Specifications
DIN 417 is the long-dog-point member of the slotted set screw family: a headless (or minimal-head) screw with a cylindrical pilot — the dog — that projects a defined length z beyond the threads. Where a cone point digs in and a flat point only presses, the long dog point mates: it drops into a matching groove on a shaft, a dowel hole or a drilled dimple, so the screw locates positively instead of merely clamping — the classic choice for indexing collars, sliding keys and lead-screw bearings where the part must not rotate relative to the screw. The collected table runs M1.6 to M12 and tabulates the engaging geometry per size: the point diameter dp with its max=nominal / min limits, the dog length z with max and min=nominal bands (the length that must clear the thread run-out and seat in the mating groove), the slot width n and slot depth t limits, and the pitch P. The slotted drive keeps the screw serviceable with a flat blade where a hex socket would collect debris. Materials, property classes and finishes are not printed by the collected specification and follow the drawing callout.

Ordering & documentation
Documents
Shipments are backed by Mill Test Certificate (MTC), Dimensional Report, Salt Spray Test Report on request, with full batch traceability from raw material to finished product. Quality management follows the owner-confirmed compliance list: ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH. Exact document sets are confirmed on the order.
Quotation
- The fastener family (DIN 417 Slotted Set Screws with Long Dog Point) plus the standard designation from your drawing — DIN / ISO / JIS / ASTM / ANSI, or a drawing for custom parts.
- Size (diameter and length), thread type (metric or inch), property class or grade, and coating or finish.
- Quantity per size and your target delivery date.
- Destination country, and any required documents (for example a mill test certificate) so the quote includes them.
Sample & supply
Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces. Stock items run 3–7 days. Quantities or variants outside the standard range are confirmed at quotation.
Storage & shipping
Parts are packed for export and shipped factory-direct to buyers in Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East. Frequently asked questions
Long dog point (DIN 417) or short dog — what does the z column decide?
The z column is the length of the unthreaded cylindrical pilot, and DIN 417 is the long-dog variant precisely because z is generous: at M6 it runs 3 to 3.25 mm against the much shorter stub of the short-dog forms. A long dog reaches through a clearance hole or a thin clamp member into a shallow groove, so the screw both clamps and positively locates the part against rotation. If your mating groove is deep and the dog must bottom in it, the min=nominal and max bands matter — the groove needs to accept the full z band, not just the nominal. When the part only needs pressure without location, a flat point (DIN 551) or cup point (DIN 438) from the same slotted family avoids machining a groove at all.
What is the MOQ and lead time for these screws?
Minimum order quantity is 10,000 pieces per item. Stocked sizes ship in 3–7 days; non-stock diameters, lengths or finishes are quoted with a confirmed schedule. Common sizes in this designation are widely stocked — confirm the exact schedule against quantity and size mix at quotation.
